Military salutes as a recognition of the office of President. We have basically three levels. Audio and still photographers from the pool are on tiny little stools in the front. Correspondents (we call them 'pencils' or 'scribblers') are standing behind them. Then a second row of photographers and video are in the back, up on ladders so we can see over everyone. The helicopter noise is so loud we all have to be crammed on top of one another to hear anything.
