It must be the ultimate satisfaction for a president who has served two terms, to see his vice president elected after him.

The last time a VP was elected president when he was VP was when Martin Van Buren followed Andrew Jackson in 1836. And it hasn't happened since 1988.

@@timothylee2772 That would be disastrous, as it has been over the last four years. regardless of conservatism or liberalism, Trump has been nothing but an insult to the american people the entire time he's been in office. You look back at the days of Reagan and Bush senior and get nostalgic for what the republican party once stood for. Gentle leadership and american values, rather than hate, spreading misinformation, and using the highest office for personal gain for you and your friends. it's disgusting.

Honestly George HW Bush’s story is amazing to me. He enlisted in WW2 on his 18th birthday, became the youngest aviation officer at the time, during a bombing mission he had to jump out of his plane and out of all the people on that mission he was the sole survivor and the others literally got cannibalized by the Japanese, by some act of God he happened to get picked up by a friendly submarine, survived the rest of the war and went home to marry the love of his life and eventually became President of that country he volunteered to defend when he was still a teenager.

The modern mainstream media is the enemy of the people. They should be neutral, report the bad and the good, not just the bad. The media today has no respect, just look at the press conferences, they act like children. They did it to themselves. Quayle was 42. The same age JFK was when he was elected, which is why he mentioned that in that debate with Bentsen, prompting that infamous line. Quayle looked younger than he was too, especially I think because of his haircut. Hair on men was still long, fading from the 70s. Not as crisp as now.

A group not exactly known for their humanitarian efforts. An Ambassador for the United States was killed, despite his numerous requests for military help. Whereas... Under President Reagan and Bush... Dictators from Gernada, the Philippines, Czechoslovakia, and Panama were removed from command. Iraq got the boot out of Kuwait. The Berlin Wall fell. Bush was always going to have a tough time against Clinton in 92. Even if he hadn't raised taxes and the economy was doing well. Clinton was young and charismatic. Rightly or wrongly, that counts for a lot in the minds of a lot of voters. And by that point there had been a GOP president for 12 years. It's difficult for one party to win the presidency three times in a row, never mind four times.
