Snowmobiles are pretty easy to use, but you have to use your whole body to balance while making turns in deep snow and rather be heavy on the throttle so you dont get stuck. And watch out for thin ice... So I guess it depends alot on the terrain. I'm a Swede but I have to admit Finns are badass neighbours to have, love them!

Rifle is most likely latest finnish RK modernized version. Finnosh camo m/05 is done by taking 100s of thousands even million pictures of Finnish terrain and scenery and digitally compressing it. It works very well. While I was enlsited officer(one year contract after conscription) I was lucky to get to a lesson held by the Special jäger trainer. On thing that I remember well is that he said it takes 8 years to trainer sufficient special jäger. So their life is more valuable than any equipment(is true to all troops but meaning the lenght of training is so long so replacing operative is huge pain). They surely are trained with snowmobiles. One story from the lecture was that they were going into mission where terrain would not allow any motorized movement and walking was too slow so they were specially trained for horse riding. There is very little footage and knowledge of them outside of them. Most of the videos on youtube have lot of footage showing some other troops even though it is meant to be about them. I had something else to write too but I have to get to hockey practice. Cool reaction as always and keep it up!!

@@CombatArmsChannel Yes it is the special forces version of the modernized RK-62 (RK-62M). There were if I remember correctly 3 different version made. That green special forces version is the most rare to see of them. Finland actually tested pretty much every modern rifle system over the years but none of them fulfilled the demands set for them. Mostly the problems were about inferior ballistic charasteristics of the calibers available and mechanical failures in really cold weather. So we just modernized the old ones that do meet those standards with all the modern gizmos. 🤭

I was in finnish rapid deployment force back in 2001. It was 6 months of normal military training and then 3 months of peace keeping training. The level of training went up greatly when the last 3 months training started. It was like in school training from 6:00 am until 17:00 every day. I liked that the instructors were so pro. What I didn't like was that everything had to shining all the time. Gear maintenance was over the top and we had to do shows for foreign weapons inspectors. I don't think they were that stupid to believe the training show we gave them. Like once we had parade uniforms and only t shirt under it and the temp was below zero Celsius. Still training was very high quality if asked from me. Then we went to nato training exercise in poland. We shined there until higher ups decided to give us free time with the Austrians. Of course we fucked it up as a unit. We were supposed to drink just 4 beers per person, but it got out of hand. Some people changed their whole uniforms with the Austrians, I got penalty as being the leader of vehicle and being drunk. Good times.

Huge range of snowmobile capabilities...there are big-track, heavy-duty machines that can go 80 kph, and tow a big sled, and 100 HP machines that can do between 130-160 kph (80 -100 mph), but usefulness is limited by noise level, bush density, available trails, BUT, they can really move you through snowy country, and carry enough load to be SF useful, and do it where there is no other way to make, except helicopter, but at lower cost, less visibility to radar...

Finns are really good, especially in winter environment... Great video. We, in Romania, have some good mountain troops. I think the 2 most difficult environments are mountain and arctic. Very challenging. All 3 countries from northern Europe, Norway, Sweden and Finland have very good Jaeger special forces. From my point of view, they are unbeatable on home ground.

as a former infantry officer of Swedish Army trained in winter warfare I would not at all count in Swedish jaeger forces as particularity capable. Finnish jaeger are waaaay above what poor Sweden may produce. During the cold war we had top notch jaeger battalions but that time is gone long tie ago because of absurd woke with no attention on realistic training, IQ, physical and mental strength as well as on endurance.

We also use KASI-simulator for training. Its laser and gps based system. You put receiver over your bodyarmour/helmet and transmitter to gun. It tells you if you are wounded and disables gun. This system can also used with tanks and other vehicles. Its pretty fun and to train with this system.

The rifle at the start is the Finnish RK-62M3, a modified version of our old local AK-47 copy. M3 variant has that green Cerakote treatment. That "awesome place to jump" is in Lappeenranta, a small city in SE Finland, just 20 km from the Russian border and 70 km from Utti which is the homebase for these guys.

We are situated in a middle climate, between arctic, oceanic/coastal and inland -type climates, which means winters differ greatly and can actually hype between -35°c to +15°c within 24hours depending on the region. Winters aren't always packed with snow, they can be mild and wet at times all across our, +1300km inlenght of a country. Inland regions usually get more colder winters than those on the coastal regions.

1:14 That’s an RK62M3. It has a green cerakote finish and is otherwise identical to the RK62M2 which has an M-Lok rail and can be fitted with a suppressor unlike the RK62M1 and the plain old RK62. The RK62M series is an upgrade to the old RK62. The RK62M1 is issued to your regular conscripts, especially readiness units. M2’s are for conscripts specializing in urban warfare and CQB while the M3’s are really only for special forces.

Fun fact: Jaegers were first soldiers to use rifles with rifled barrels in combat as frontline snipers. Name Jeager means hunter as first jeagers recruited were professional hunters and rangers who were knowed to be excellent marksmans.

The swastika on the second flag on the paratroopers is a long stansing military symbol in Finland deriving from when a swedish buisnessman gifted Finland its first aircraft as a wastika was painted on. This was in the 20s before the nazi party used it and Finland still uses the symbol to this day, even on its highest honors like the mannerheim cross

Snowmobiles are quite easy to drive, having driven bikes before a snowmobile, it feels quite different. First of all, it's much more relaxed, you turn by turning the handlebars, not by shifting weight or by turning the bars in the opposite direction like you would on bikes at fast speeds. But since you're turning with the bars, it's easy to get thrown off the mobile if you overdo it without preparing. You have to lean against the turn with your whole body to stay on the mobile while doing higher G turns.

8:50 I think every conscript gets finnish variant of USA tactical combat casualty care. Its easy and simple to learn, and real life saver. Actually my training relied mostly on it, as i was "combat saver" of long distance scout team. We did not have actual medics. They were seen useles, because if you suffered fatal injury 200km deep behind enemy lines. What are your chances to get back home? No need for medic then. I would love to see you react to Finnish borderguard troops. Spesially Ivalos borderguard company, as it is the northernmost around the year military base in the world.

I think he was talking about simunition the rubber/ plastic rounds. I was in the Ta also (pre 2009 for a fair few years) and it was before my time. It was fun to use the laser and blank round sets with the detection harnesses though as opposed to just blanks. I remember getting in trouble on one occasion from the DS's because I'd set up my fire team in a too good position and they made us move as we were causing too many casualties on the OTC unit we were helping train as they couldn't spot us. Some of the most hilarious fun I had was playing enemy on exercise using that gear :)

@@mvee5944 It's funny as while you were in the regs I was in the reserves :) Were you able to take part in any of the international competitions? In the CQB parts of an Italian competition we used airsoft G36's with lurking DS's. Having said that the live fire was great fun, especially using those Italian semi-auto SPAS-15 shotguns :) On a side note there is a new combat sport that uses the laser system but when you get hit you get a minor electric shock and a buzzer is set off a bit like the army system. I'd recommend checking it out as it's a good laugh :)

At first the helicopter had me thinking it was a Westland Merlin, having looked into it it's very similar because it comes from the same design background, Augusta Westland being one of the contractors. And I have to agree their camouflage is very good. When you think about how small Finland is as a nation they have a very good reputation, in 1940 they kicked the s*** out of Russia.

I've never driven a snowmobile myself, but back when I was like twelve or something, my friend was really into it. We went to Lapland with her parents to drive them in a nearby forest path. I thought being the passanger on her father's ride was terrifying, but it didn't compare at all to my friend's driving. Funniest part was that while I was clutching to her for my dear life, she happened to lose her grip after a big bump and I blinked just at that moment. So one second I'm holding onto her while on the snowmobile, and the next I'm lying in the snow, staring at the sky and wondering wtf happened. :D Considering how young she and I were (she's a year older than me), it can't be too hard.

NH-90 Eurocopter was definitely a good choice for the Finnish military🇫🇮. Eurocopters also fly a lot of missions here in Finland assisting law enforcement and the rescue services. The video also had a quick shot of the military's traning helicopter Hughes MD500. That is made in USA by McDonnell Douglas!👍🇺🇲

It was actually really bad choise for FDF. This program/deal is over 10 year late and lot copters are not in operative use, because technical defects. Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk or MI-24 would have been better option

@@SavolaxMitsu Yes, I know that too. I still believe that in the long run the NH-90 is going to be a good working helicopter here in Finland. The MI-24 would have been a terrible helicopter to buy for many reasons. Finland was buying transport helicopters not fighter helicopters for once and I think the times when Finland is buying military hardware from our "eastern neighbour" are long gone. I agree with you that the UH-60 would have been a good choice too.

Thanks for the vid! You have nice quality and very cordial atmosphere in your videos. Snowmobiling in deep soft snow (not to mention deep and wet snow ;)) is hard first but when u get it, u can go almost anywhere. By standing you are more ready & quick to keep balance as u have to counterbalance the vehicle too - sometimes quite much... Broad front skis and big enough engine help also! So snowmobile can be really excellent help... or pain in the a***s ;) (As a Finn it is weirdly exotic to watch your videos)

You are right. I think they usually use Crye multicam and some other special mission unit gears. And special jägers main service rifle is FN SCAR 5.56 nato. Those guys regularly train with other EU SF, UK and US SF units

The rifle is a rk62 modernized, and Isreali galil rifles are bsaed on the rk62, they also have a rk95 version that at the time was meant to have optics but now the modernized 62s can do that as well

Snowmobiles have to be the easiest vehicle to drive. Started driving them under my fathers supervision for the first time when I was 6(with him riding with me, and hands hovering, ready to take over if I did something stupid), and was driving them on my own when I was 9-10(ofc I occasionally snuck out to ride it a few times before then, but that's when I got to do it openly upon occasion, as long as someone older was nearby). I was constantly driving at 100 km/h+ past 11(we own a lot of forest up by the northern border, and I used to ride it between ours and our cousin's cabin - Where we basically owned most of the area, about 3-4km between them). Only time we had any issues, was when I unknowingly stopped over a small lake with trees growing out of it still, where the ice was thin. And my father had to take over immediately as I was looking around, when he noticed the ice starting to break behind him. I think I was 10 at the time. It looked nothing like it was a lake, with a hard packed trail across, and various little peaks dotting it, likely from stones or trees sticking out. It had likely recently sunk in and turned into a lake. PS. While I say they're easy to drive and handle, my brother is a reckless menace on them. He once made a 90 degree turn at 100 km/h with both of us on, throwing us both off. Luckily it was on day with very powdery snow, and nobody was even remotely hurt(though mostly since we both knew how to fall from a snowmobile at speed in the safest way, and so I let myself drop when I knew it was safe - Rather than holding on).

Operating in the snow is cold but same time wet, when the snow hasn't melted on warmer winter days and it got piles, it is not easy to go in it, because you sank into it. It is a challenging environment, but I bet you could get training in Finland from those people that you did get to know in Varusteleka, I think they do training camps by them self too. Ask.

Did you know that Finnish soldiers came to US after WW2, joinded US Army and started to teach gorilla- and winter warfare. Keravuori and Lauri Törni (Larry Thorne) and those tactics are still in use.

snowmobile riding can be learned fast. I needed 5 minutes. but becoming better than the enemy at it, DOES require training. You will top over occationally, and then the diffiulties begin. Recovering from tipped over position while in deep snow does only work with the aid of the machine that is tipped over. But if an experienced drivers shows it to you, you have that skill under your belt in one day. In lapland preschool kids drive the snowmobile

I did ride snowmobiles when I was younger from "work horse" snowmobiles to race snowmobiles when I was younger. Even tho the riding is easy you do use your whole body when riding them. From your palms to your toes every part of your body is used ro control one to perfection

The special jaeger company (EJK) is one of the 2 readiness units in the FDF that consists solely of career NCO's and officers. The company is a part of the Special Jaeger Battalion, which also has a parajaeger company (LJK), a conscript/reservist special training unit. The rifle in 1:10 is a RK62m3. It is a modernized version of the main service rifle 7.62 RK62. There are three modernized versions for different units, m2 and m3 are identical, apart from the green finish of m3. EDIT: The FDF recently told the public that the professional special troops unit of the Finnish Navy will also become a part of the Utti Special jaeger battalion. The other unit will still be located in the Upinniemi naval base, but they will probably be having more co-operation in the land-based training, tactics and equipment. The Finnish Navy special troops will still be having a combat diver training.

1:17 that's a modified Finnish RK variant, painted and with tactical rails.* 1:47 the helmet and the facemask/goggles are special forces top-of-the line equipment. 1:55 the camo of the Finnish army is actually developed, to not reflect any heat or IR signatures. 2:26 the training usually takes place in a smaller, controlled enviroment, but they also train in crowded areas. 3::22 Snowmobiles are common in the Finnish army, they are widespread. 4:25 The usual kit that you'd find on a marine, or soldier, is not that high tech, the good shit is reserved for the OP guys. 5:54 that kit is a basic kit, and armor/utilityvest is also normal for NCOs and eveyrone above. Unless you're a spec ops. 5:54 the blue barrels and the blue magazines are just an indicator of training equipment. It's not that expensive.

As few people have mentioned the chopper is an NH90, transport helicopter with capacity of 16 folks + crew. Range is about 500 miles with average traveling speed of 160 mph. Cargo in and outside combined up to 12 000 lbs. They at least used to be built, or assembled more accurately, in Finland. Not sure what the situation is these days. The fighter jet is the F/A-18 C/D Hornet by Boeing. The two seaters have been built in the US by McDonnell Douglas (part of Boeing these days) and the single versions once again assembled in Finland. The Hornet replaced the previous Swedish Saab Draken and Russian MiG-21bis planes gradually from 1995 to 2000 and after a couple of mid-life upgrades they, too, are slowly reaching the end of their life cycle. We'll see what will replace the Hornets. In the meantime I think the British Hawk Mk 51 and 66 will continue as advanced training jets, but the beginner's model will change from the Finnish Vinka to the German Grob G 115E.

Yes, it's a seasonal thing.We had our first camp in -20 degrees C, and my fingers didn't work to shoot the bazooka. All you had to do is press the button, but my fingers didn't work like they're supposed to...There's some strange things happening in the cold. Like guns freezing too...

Snowmobiles are a great deal of fun! It's even more fun when you travel with friends! There are different specs of snowmobiles, and some are pretty top heavy. Sport, touring, work oriented a.s.o. A great way to get around, enjoy the views (they are to DIE for on clear, sunny days), and play around! Now, I would recommend going on a snowmobile safari trip with professionals that now how treacherous the weather conditions can be (freezing winds, sudden snowstorms, a.s.o.), and how painstaking it can be to dig your snowmobile out WHEN you (or somebody else) decide to lose control of the vehicle - that's gonna happen. Unfortunately, we've had a lot of accidents involving snowmobiles in recent years in Sweden, so not only did a specific license pop up, it has now become MANDATORY, and since accidents (and in many cases reckless driving) has still been a problem to public safety the police were given a priority task a few years back to crack down on snowmobile operators that don't give hand signals, don't leave way when crossing public roads, drive were it's not permitted, and so forth... A serious warning also: LOOK OUT FOR THAT TREE, GEORGE!

As a Finn. I know that all our military branches use snowmobiles. Even our cops use them. But the Jaeger's have the souped up boosted versions. And if you're being hunted by that, you're not getting far.

That rifle is modernized version of old RK-62. RK-62M3 (IIRC) to be precise. Old one has a rather utilitarian look and barebones stock, but works wonders. Don't quote me on this one, but RK-62M1 is what's issued to infantry, in some bigger garrisons at least. Dunno if RK-95's are being replaced but I doubt it.

4:30 The funny thing here is that the vast majority of the rights used in the Finnish military, are still from the year 1962. But the RK-62 is an absolute best and there is absolutely no reason to upgrade it tbh. I mean of course do they make small adjustments to some of the guns every now and then, but most of them are still the same.of course there is the RK-95, but it hasn't been adopted for wide spread use yet.

While there are several versions of the modern rifles, they're all modified RK-62 rifles. That's reflected in their naming (RK-62M). The modifications are simple yet awesome. (The model is 62 but most were made later, obviously. The year of manufacture is inscribed in the metal of each rifle)

Miika Hämäläinen Sako only made 20000 RK-95s. They all are in service. Last one was build over 20 years a go.

That is modern version of finnish rk95 i dont remember now what rk it is called but now when they added those Rails in it, we have More options to mod our rifles. I think those are for special military squads only atleast for now. I loved my RK62 when i was in the military.:) would go back there any time.

You can do it but you just need tons of speed and acceleration. There's a fair amount of videos on this site of just that. Also helps if you don't mind losing said snowmobile.
