From Canada the average Canadian winter prepares you for battle. Just being outside can kill you… drive a few hours outside major cities bears and wolves kill you… we grow up playing hockey beating the crap out of each other … look up our history in WW2 when it comes to beef we handle it #devilsbrigade

Irony is that Vietnam would not have been swayed by communism (and giving life to the domino effect theory of the cold war that led to US boots on the ground) if it wasn't for France and how they brewed hatred for capitalism and imperialism. To the Vietnamese, French Occupation was their experience of capitalism and it made them miserable. Of course they jumped on the idealogy that fights it. The big Western mistake was to see north vietnam's communism through the cold war lense, instead of seeing it as a fight for sovereignty. They said so many time, its always country before communism.

JTF2 holds the #2 longest confirmed sniper kill (a soldier from another Canadian unit is at #6). I think it was about 3.5km with a crosswind. We may be few, but we're deadly. We weren't officially involved in the 2003 Iraq war, but that's where it happened. When you need a dude dead from a couple of miles away, we're the guys you call.

they are called orcs for several reasons, political (they are obsessed with fundamental concepts such as human rights and international law), cultural (lack of individualism, complete submission to their leader, slave mentality) and historical (the Russian state originates from the golden horde and attacks lands of modern Ukraine precisely from the same territories where the lands captured by the Golden Horde were located)

I was stationed at HMS Collingwood in 1958-1962 and our branch was represented by a team which practiced every day for about 6 months before the competition took place. It was very intense. The competition continues but no longer as the Royal NAVY field gun competition. The Royal Navy Command Field Gun competition was discontinued after the final Royal Tournament at Earls Court in 1999. However, the Brickwoods Field Gun competition, which is now known as the RNRMC (Royal Navy/Royal Marines Charity) Field Gun Competition, is still held annually at HMS Collingwood. I could not find a link for a video of the present version of the competition. Here's a link to the details of the competition which also includes the winners and runners up for the competition to last year (2023). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field_gun_competition#Brickwood%27s_Field_Gun

there was a massive spate of prison riots like this across the uk during that period, screws used to have groups that would come in your cell on a night and beat the shit out of you, sometimes cos you spoke to an officer the wrong way sometimes cos they heard a rumour from another jails screw or sometimes just cos they were bored and had drank on the night shift. In hmp Armley they were known as the A team until finally a couple of decent officers got brave and came forward and they tried to ruin their lives for years, but when the walls started closing in they all turned on each other and couldn't grass each other up fast enough, i'm not saying they were good people doing the rioting but im saying the screws played a part and there is only so far u can push people before they push back, even today normal wing officers aren't allowed cell keys on the night shifts and if they need to enter a cell they have to call first response down with a key

Didnt have to partake in a separate SERE-course, when i got the Ruska 19 experience. Week and a half spent in the woods, looking out for OPFOR consisting of actual career SOF's. Personal record for the longest duration of time spent awake was just shy three days, with your clothes and gear constantly getting exposed to the elements. I think the first time i got dry pair of socks and boxer briefs was on the day the exercise ended. Good experience tho, very humbling.

Too many guys killed surrendering to drones. So surrendering seems not to be an option. It's also really important to remember that Ukrainians and western Russian are the same people with very similar cultural attitudes. So don't expect a significantly different attitude. Not usa vs afghans. Very different cultures

As a Dutch guy, none of this is cool or fun.. people here in general will recoil at the sight of a gun or rifle.. that being said, I'm proud we have such highly trained special forces, both police and military.. for such a small country we really have some special people doing amazing work.. if you ever find yourself in The Netherlands, go visit the Nationaal Militair Museum (NMM / National Military Museum), it's located at an old airfield in a beautiful area and it has a lot of history to it, showcasing a lot of military material (going back centuries!) and telling a lot of personal stories of soldiers/officers. I highly recommend visiting it.

As an ex Italian soldier, I was Alpino Let' 's break it down, Italy has a range of special forces and elite units across its military Gruppo di Intervento Speciale (GIS) Elite counterterrorism unit of the Carabinieri. It specializes in hostage rescue, counterterrorism, and high-risk operations. Comando Subacquei e Incursori (COMSUBIN) Naval special forces unit of the Italian Navy, was divided into two groups: Incursori (Raiders): Specializing in underwater sabotage, direct action, and special reconnaissance. Palombari (Divers): Experts in explosive ordnance disposal and underwater engineering. 9º Reggimento d'Assalto Paracadutisti "Col Moschin" Elite paratrooper regiment of the Italian Army. It conducts direct action, special reconnaissance, and counterterrorism missions. 85º Reggimento Ricognizione Acquisizione Obiettivi (RAO) Special forces unit specialized in long-range reconnaissance and target acquisition for artillery and airstrikes. 17º Stormo Incursori Special operations unit of the Italian Air Force, focusing on airfield seizure, combat search and rescue (CSAR), and air support operations. Italy’s military includes highly specialized units like the Alpini, Lagunari, Folgore, the Battaglione San Marco, 4th Alpine Paratroopers Regiment which are not considered special forces but rather elite troops trained for specific operational scenarios. These are some of Italy’s top elite military units, each with their own unique skills and history. The Lagunari are experts in amphibious operations, trained to fight in coastal, lagoon, and urban areas, carrying on Venice’s proud maritime tradition. The Alpine Paratroopers unit which specializes in mountain and high-risk missions, is known for operating in extreme and tough conditions. The Alpini are Italy’s legendary mountain troops, famous for their ability to handle the toughest terrain and weather. The Folgore Brigade is an elite airborne unit of the Italian Army, specialized in rapid-deployment missions. Known for their parachute operations, they excel in combat, reconnaissance, and securing strategic objectives, often behind enemy lines. The brigade also participates in peacekeeping, humanitarian missions, and counter-terrorism, operating in diverse and extreme environments. Renowned for their professionalism and versatility, the Folgore represents Italy in both military operations and ceremonial events. Meanwhile, the San Marco Battalion, part of the Navy, is Italy’s marine force, specializing in amphibious and rapid-response missions by sea, air, or land. These units stand out for their exceptional training, versatility, and ability to take on the hardest challenges.

Battle of Vimy Ridge WWI, Freeing Netherlands, Sniper Division and Leo Major the Canadian who wouldnt not abandon his men or give his life up regardless of the pain and suffering endured.. literally a crazy story.. broke his back in 4 places, lost an eye broke both ankles and most of his ribs and refused to be evacuated and went back to full service after a months rest. LEGEND! a few worthy history moments and videos to check out. im glad you say that about WW1 because it was a way different war so yeah canadas reputation was al ittle different from WWI to WWII but very meticulous and human behaviour can be disgusting and vengeful especailly in war. i coulldnt even imagine the intense fear. but the reliance of you for your men and your men for you is a powerful force. thanks to all the men and women within the military of North America and the World. very proud as a Canadian and glad to be bringing back a stronger military force during crazy times but never wish they need to fight for us our our rights. drafts are needed if you arent Canadian well just do what is needed when we need to. but lets aim for better so were all not streesing over this crazy time in the history of the world.. avoid a WWIII and atleast start allying together again.. all for one. not one for one.. brothers and sisters in arms
