1:30 I think Russia is currently the best example of why soldiers probably shouldn't have phones on them when deployed. Love your additions to these videos by the way.

I think it is a very good thing for russians to have their phones on them. Easiest way to take out their generals.

At least not regular phones

@@snugglecity3500 it's the Ukrainians and their allies that mostly had phones on them and resulted in casualties. Cruise missiles while sleeping and a friend sharing photos on reddit got Ukranians and their foreign allies killed.

1:33 That's true, phones can be a serious risk. The phones of a few British volunteers resulted in the bombing of a foreign legion base in Ukraine very recently, with numerous casualties as a result. I also recall a joint exercise between the US and (I think) Sweden, where the Swedes just checked Tinder for the location of the US base and promptly called a simulated air strike on it, winning it without ever getting close to them.

do you mean the ukranian that posted his photo to a friend and then the friend shared it on reddit and the school where they were regrouping got bombed
@snugglecity35002 жыл бұрын
@@marshallwaffle2123 no, he is talking about a cruise missile strike on a barracks in far western ukraine where they are training up ~200,000 ukrainian and foreign volunteers. The missile hit at night whilst they were sleeping and I believe 80 people were killed.

Tanks have some really interesting night vision gear. The driver will generally have night vision periscopes, and the commander and gunner often have thermal viewers. Earlier Cold War models would have gunner sights and maybe commander sights that have IR capabilities, and they would have massive infrared spotlights on them.

as for weapons they are using it actually shows in the top right, as for example the church scene he is using a mxm 5.5, the wetsuit bit an mk200 lmg and so on.

As for tank driving, yes, they have a tiny periscope - and yes, they still have the tank commander tell them where to go. Not sure if modern tanks have a thermal imager for the driver, but the oldies here (T-55s, 72s) had infra-red head-lights and driver had gen0 nods.

I was active Army ('99-'07) with 3 deployments to Kuwait in '01-'02, Iraq in '03, Iraq again in '06-'07. On my first two, we did not have all that fancy gear y'all got. My nods were the doubles, and had to do some night driving with those low-level headlights. There was a slight magnification to the NVGs, so we lost all depth perception, it was a pain in the fuckin ass.
