Mariners are a dangerous team. 5-1 against San Diego. Swept the Mets. Winning record against Houston and Texas. I look forward to seeing what they can do in 2025 even without Roki. That's why Roki Sasaki and Pete Alonso should come to Seattle. The Mariners have good things going for them. Also if Roki Sasaki helped bring a world series to Seattle he'd become a legend greater than Ichiro and that can only happen in Seattle. Ohtani didn't want to become that legend(and probably wouldn't have anyway), Maybe Roki does.
@williamquemuel7824Ай бұрын
Pete Alonso is a right handed bat. T-Mobile park is not a friendly to right handed hitters. In addition, his market value is AAV of $29M. The M’s have to overpay by 20% so it would be upward sof $34.8M AAV. He is a free agent and can choose where he wants to play. Unfortunately, the Yankees and the Mets are looking at him. The M’s will lose in a bidding war. He is also a Boras client. The M’s and Boras haven’t seen eye to eye.

Hey guys! Wondering if you feel that getting the #3 pick in the draft will affect the pursuit of Sasaki? Does pool money cover international signings?
@jeffnak5598Ай бұрын
Draft money and international money is completely separate.
@leroypoukkula8514Ай бұрын
@@jeffnak5598 was afraid that was the case.
@bryanfoss6736Ай бұрын
But the Mariners do have the most international pool money to offer too
@jeffnak5598Ай бұрын
@bryanfoss6736 Well, yes, everyone does. The good thing about the international bonus pool money being involved is that it doesn't matter that much. Every team has 5-8 million every period to spend from that pool. Sasaki waited to be posted so he can get a better bonus than now because most teams have used this last periods money. Also, teams can not manipulate a deal in any way or the league will step in and nullify the deal and prevent that team from further involvement and potentially penalize them. That has happened in recent years, and it was a scandal that was exposed.
@williamquemuel7824Ай бұрын
Everyone in the chat is missing the point. If you get Sasaki, then the M’s can trade Castillo freeing up another ~$24M for a bat. The M’s can probably land someone like Cody Bellinger in a trade or Vlad . How’s that?
@Lad98477Ай бұрын
2024 cody bellinger? I wouldn’t like that lol

Christian Walker is a right handed bat. Everyone knows that T-Mobile is not a hitters park for right handed hitters. He’s a free agent and can decide where he wants to go. The M’s would have to overpay by 20% to get him. In addition, the Yankees are looking at players at 1B, 2B and 3B, the same as the M’s. The Yankees have been linked to Christian Walker. Let’s be real.

So we need more pitching? that is what we were lacking last year? I mean if there is something beyond #1 ERA and #1 in quality starts by far in ranking I guess.... I mean me personally I would think we need hitting where we were 29th out of 30 in BA and 22nd in RBIs 29th in hits....

Getting Sasaki doesn’t fix the problem. They need BATS and have at least three holes in their infield. Even if they land Sasaki, they’re more likely to move to a six-man rotation. Jerry is obsessed with keeping all this pitching and will not trade them h less he’s given a package back
@lovesbaseball383Ай бұрын
This is exactly what they need. Another pitcher who will hold the opposition to 3 runs or less and then their offense gets 2 hits.
@scottblanchard9614Ай бұрын
I'd love Roki Sasaki...I don't think he makes a big impact in 2025 though. His biggest impact would be if the Mariners trade a SP for an impact bat.
@jeffnak5598Ай бұрын
@@scottblanchard9614 The Mariners have wanted to run a 6 man rotation for years now. If they don't trade another pitcher and sign Sasaki, they will run it the way they've long desired.

Why didn’t the Ms make a stronger push for Jake Burger? Seems like an affordable price for a team crying poverty. They didn’t do anything over the winter meetings, and seemingly every rumor has been squashed now with crochet getting moved

Were not getting Sasaki. Why do you guys do this every year? Shohei to Seattle?!? The Mariners pursuing Juan Soto?? Just stop. Ask yourself two questions whenever their is a free agent. Are they good at baseball? Would they cost more than a bag of peanuts? If you answered yes to either of those, than we're not signing them.

They need to do SOMETHING. I know they arent going to sign a high end FA besides maybe a reliever. Sounds like the trade market doesnt value seattles pitching as much as seattle does which i fear might hold seattle back from getting good enough to win this division.
