I love this story so much. The dude spends years in a Church never once repenting for wanting to kill. Yet sites Divine Intervention for being allowed to kill the Captain. Showing in a way God allowed this to happen in the Story. Allowing the Mother and Son to get Justice and finally rest in peace.

Pretty good. Only issue I see is that the Mariner was 3 when the Captain was with his mother. The Mariner would have been around 18 when he entered the Priory. Plus another 1.5+ years chasing the Captain.

It's sobering to think about what this says about revenge, because if he'd relinquished his thoughts of revenge, the captain he was pursuing would be left to die alone in the belly of that whale while he'd be rebuilding his life somewhere else. Now, he dies in the whale's belly alongside the man he pursued. The prison has claimed them both, and the only satisfaction he'll get left in his life is the captain's slow torturous death. The captain left a debt with the boy, just like he left it with the mother- only instead of money or land, the boy has lost the life he could have lived.

I don't like that he revealed the knife when he said we have some time to kill. He is supposed to lead up into it, the captain is supposed to be confused hearing the story, maybe figuring out his fate towards the end.

A small criticism that, perhaps, you've already heard, but it stood out to me. The lyrics lay out a pretty clear timeline for the song - the mariner states that when him and the captain first met, he was three and the captain was eighteen, then fifteen years and change passed. So, in other words, when they meet again in the whale's belly, he's something like eighteen or nineteen, early twenties at the latest (it's implied that the captain revealed his true colors pretty quickly, so not THAT much time can have passed between their meeting and the mother's death), while the captain is somewhere in his mid-thirties. But you show the mariner as somewhere in the ten-to-twelve range when his mother dies, though fifteen years later, he still looks pretty youthful, while the captain doesn't appear to have aged at all. Don't get me wrong; you did an awesome job on this, and I don't mean to nitpick it to death. It's just that these details matter, you know?
