In Fallout New Vegas, there's a round called the 12G Coin Shot, where the coins you collect from Ceaser's Legion are so worthless, people are just using them for ammo. I think using Mario's coins as ammo would be a good mechanic. Not that it would balance anything, just be kinda funny.

You can actually beat the game without needing either of the keys, shooting down the upstairs door in the lobby will warp you to the 2nd floor upon entering it. In vanilla SM64 you usually can't do this, since only the key door will trigger the loading zone.

I bet Shigeru Miyamoto is laughing his butt off at this mod. It wouldn't be the first time it happened to a creation of his (the boys at Rare famously gave Donkey Kong a shotgun during the development of Donkey Kong 64 and they didn't realize until Miyamoto was invited in for review of progress in the game's development that it probably wasn't something he would approve of. However, instead of being upset, Miyamoto laughed at the absurdity of the idea and was inspired to sketch out the coconut gun for Donkey Kong, recommending it as a workable compromise for Rare's idea for that game, which is how we still got the various nut guns and Monkey Smash in that game).
