That "LUCAAAAAASSSS!'' at the beginning of the chasing sequence made it genuinely unsettling for me, even the name changing from Luigi to Lucas during MX's dialogue before the chase sequence was really clever in my opinion.

It’s a game based on a creepypasta. The “Mario” chasing you is a demon named MX that possessed a SMB1 cartridge in 1985. The “Luigi” you play as is an 8 year boy named Lucas that died from a seizure after playing the game. MX pulls his soul into the game for an eternal game of cat and mouse
