Sephiroth never actually lost to Sora, people are overplaying the boss fights waaaaay too much. It's canon that in KH-verse, only Cloud can defeat Sephiroth

​@@toony1232Kinda true but also kinda not. You see, after battle in KH2 Sephiroth basically said the battle was pointless since only Cloud can defeat him, true. But that also heavily implies that Sephiroth did not see any way to win against Sora, otherwise he would have continued fighting. Also important to note is that what mean by "defeat" is actually "kill", it was just written as defeat in English. He can still be defeated, he just cannot be killed by anyone except Cloud. And even then it tends to not be a permanent death.
