2:18 paper mario is a mechanic in this game. Also, you have the ability to run, trio attacks, paper mario going into small places the rest of the party can't go. Btw, i loved how some ennemies stole your action boxes at some point

We see Mario & Luigi split up at so many times troughout the trailer, I believe that will be the main gimmick. But honestly, I don't know if I need any new mechanics, the game looks breath taking by itself. Seeing Mario & Luigi back in this new dimension, with movie-like cutscenes like that, it's magical. Can't wait to play it and relive my childhood.

I think there will be something, as we can see in the trailer that sometimes you'll use A and B, and sometimes you'll see X and Y being used. And those are always the buttons for the extra characters (baby Mario and Luigi, Bowser, and Paper Mario respectively). So it may be a different "dimention" or something, idk, and I'm really excited to see what they'll do with it

I'm not a fan of the Mobile Game-style Battle System in the Side Stories, but while a little corny (especially in the Bowser's Minions one) the Storytelling of these game modes were quite interesting on a Lore-Building perspective: the first tries to explain why Bowser actually HAS Minions, that'll follow his commands almost unquestioningly; while Junior's Journey shows the grueling process behind Bowser's old Caretaker, Kamek, and his Former 'Family', the Koopalings, having been tasked with Teaching and Training his new Biological Son to become the proper Heir to his Throne - a task Kamek dreaded greatly, as Junior was the Spitting Image of his Father, even down to his Personality! If we can get at least that level of Storytelling in any Side Story we get with BrotherShip without the Minigame Gimmicks, then I'd be happy...

I'd love to see the minions' gameplay return with more complexity and strategic elements. For example, maybe they could introduce more tactical depth, where unit positioning or terrain plays a bigger role in battles. It could make the gameplay feel more engaging and less repetitive. Also, what if they added a progression system where you could customize the minions’ abilities and gear? Doubtful there will be any playable characters other than Mario & Luigi this time around. They use the X and Y buttons on the field now which were always used by the extra characters in the other games. Presumably, it is to divide up Field Actions so A and B will be normal jumping and Talk/Examine depending on context while X and Y will cover the rest; from Hammers to Bros. Moves on the field. I think the most likely option if we're getting a special battle thing is that you end up in control of the Brothership itself.

I doubt they'll make Bowser playable again. If they did, they would have shown it in advertising by now. They wouldn't pass that up. And given how much they're revamping the whole game (with it now being full 3D for example), I'm guessing the gimmick IS Mario and Luigi's new combo attacks.

I think the gimmick is Luigi’s L shaped exclamation marks, they even show up in the Japanese logo so they must have some importance. We see Luigi do the exclamation mark twice in the trailer and I think it could be the main gimmick.

Well we know from the Trailer that Luigi tends to be what gets the Brothers both Into and Out Of much of the Troubles in the game in his Comedic Fashion. He got them sent off a Cliff, but it also led them into discovering the titular BrotherShip. The L! Marks seem like they'd be represented as Locations where these Interactions with Luigi can be Triggered - for Better or Worse...

It's more likely related to what Snoutlet will be able to provide in a Battle Environment. Whether that be Activating Badge Powers, having their own Damaging/Supporting Effects, or Building up Electricity for a SuperCharged Bros. Attack, each would require varying amounts of this Gauge...

A theory I have for giant battles is that since the game takes place in a world were electricity is more than a normal common thing, Luigi can find a way to harness his electric powers more, eventually taking in too much and causing him to go giant, A bit of a stretch but I'm a bit proud of it lol.

I'm a huge fan of Mario & Luigi and have played every game (Superstar Saga through the remake) multiple times, so I have a lot of knowledge on the series and what is likely happening here, though of course nothing is certain. I do think that ship battles are the special battle type for the game that we'll likely see 4-6 of throughout the story like giant/paper-craft battles in prior games, and am looking forward to that. I would guess that both Bowser and Peach will be getting side-mode stories with different game play from the Bros., but whether they are required to advance like the interludes in Paper Mario or are entirely optional like Bowser's Minions is up for debate. Additionally, though I haven't seen a lot of talk about this yet, one of the screenshots on Nintendo's website shows a Pink command block for Mario (and presumably Luigi) that is entirely unrevealed as of yet, being intentionally too difficult to make out the function of in the picture, so we know there is more to the main battle system than the basics, as is true of every entry in the series anyways.

Gotta say I really surprised to see a new Mario & Luigi game in the june 18 Nintendo Direct 2024 because Mario & Luigi series maker Alpha Dream have been gone a long time, but i'm so glad Nintendo still made Mario & Luigi game by their own that they made it AMAZING because the visual art style looks so good it's a first Mario & Luigi game for Nintendo Switch, story seems interesting with a lot of old characters Mario, Luigi, Peach and Bowser and I really hope that Kamek, Bowser. Jr, Toadsworth and Starlow are in the game too defienitily Bowser. This game has much more potential then I had thought, especially after watching the play mechanics from the previous games you mentioned. I don't trust Nintendo 😂. I mean, I think they are holding a lot of things back, often, even unnecessarily. In this case though, maybe it's very smart, from a business perspective. I was just thinking about how the MCU strategizes it's movies and which heroes will guest star in WHICH movie, and stuff like that, and the use of end credit scenes in the MCU. What if Nintendo has noticed the success of the MCU, in RECENT years 😂, and started making choices, as far as trailers and stuff, much more strategically? What if Nintendo started/continued making these awesome, groundbreaking games, but instead of revealing how awesome the games were in the initial directs and trailers, they just announced the games, business as usual, AMONGST all the other run-of-the-mill games also being released that day, or whatever, whilst KNOWING that this, and that game were going to be "AAAA" titles, with MASSIVE secrets and innovations, but just PRESENTING them as "just another game"? I don't have experience following Nintendo game launches and trailer releases prior to this year, so I don't know their usual strategies, but if you just enjoy shocking or surprising people, or starting a "word of mouth" campaign, that is what I would do. Like with the Metroid Prime 4 recent trailer. I've heard people say "that's not a system seller", "that can't be a Switch 2 launch title, by itself", and similar things, but what if that trailer is hiding awesomeness in plain sight? Maybe I am giving Nintendo too much credit, I don't know. I hope not. I'm just thinking that you can make awesome games while not necessarily having cutting edge tech. If you're good enough you can do exceptional things while using average, standard, "normal" tools, because you have an exceptional mind, or you have a lot of experience doing EXCEPTIONAL things with ORDINARY tools. So what if Nintendo has been doing EXCEPTIONAL things, for YEARS now, BETWEEN game releases, and intentionally hiding 75% of those exceptional things for the Switch 2 launch, just KNOWING that the launch was inevitable, knowing that the launch would eventually get here? If true, it blows my mind, thinking about it.

I think that Peach and Bowser bring playable characters will always be nice. Yes, we do have the sports games and The Thousand Year Door *AND* Bowser's Inside Story, but it lets you play as Bowser and the bros. How about a familiar thing from Super Paper Mario where you have the Bros Peach and Bowser playable and Luigi being the first playable character in a Paper Mario. You have Mario and Luigi, but once you get Bowser or Peach or both, you can swap them out with either Mario or Luigi to make up new attacks that certain characters can like Mario can grab Bowser's tail and swing him around and then let him go to burn the enemy in front of him or Peach cooking a cake with Luigi to heal both of them. (It can work with Mario too) This will make me happy and nostalgic for the SPM crew to return.

Unrelated, but let me make a list of how I feel about every M&L game. Superstar Saga: TOO easy on the original; play the remake. (While it does have a decent story, you don't have to plat Bowser's Minions.) Partners in Time: Great game, terrible Bros attack system, DESPERATELY NEEDS A REMAKE. (& the Shroob queen should've been the final boss). Bowser's Inside Story: Good game on either version. The remake just lets you skip the tutorial. (The story was OK, but you're not missing much if you don't play Bowser Jr's Journey). Dream Team: Good game, but the TUTORIALS SUCK. (Should've had the book & Antasma was done DIRTY at the end of the game). Paper Jam: OK game, but it lets you skip the tutorials. (Not creative, though). Overall: Good games, just VERY INCONSISTENT on how the tutorials are handled and sometimes has Bowser as the final boss when he had no reason to.

Maybe there is going to be a seperate story where you actually play as Princess Peach. They did show her after all, and I doubt that she's getting kidnapped again. Or what if Bowser and Peach team up for some reason? That'd be pretty interesting to see, although the chances of that happening seem unlikley. But I can't think of what other roles Bowser and Peach could play that would be interesting to see.
