Mario and Luigi: Partners In Time - Final Boss with Lyrics

On a dying planet far away, a race named the Shroobs set their eyes upon Earth for a new home. The world was thrown into turmoil in the past, and it took the efforts of the Mario Brothers and their younger counterparts from the past to finally put a stop to the Shroobs in their final stand, now with lyrics to go along with it.
This was the first song cover I actually made, and I've finally finished it and published it for all to enjoy. I believe it was March when I originally wrote the lyrics for this, and I am incredibly happy with how it came out. I'm happy I could release it in time for the game's 15th Anniversary in Japan. (I had meant for this to come out on the 15th Anniversary of the game in America, which released in November, but it had to be delayed.)

expectation: meh, this is lame after watching: ... THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL! Man this music makes me cry like no other song can do and you put a great song to it. I think the best part is the fact that the Bros came into the song. I feel like other boss themes in the series have been more about the feeling of "Oh no there is a tough guy here" or in the case of final bosses it feels like your in their domain, but here this is your ground! the music isn't entirely about the enemy your fighting, it's about the fight itself! it's "Their" fight! hell this fight leaves the most impact out of anything in the series. I really like the way that the Bros came in. for the opening it seemed like they were gonna let her sing but then she says "you don't know, what it's like, fighting for the survival of your race" and you can just feel the tension raise, as the shroob leader has the audacity to say that they can't relate after she destroyed their home. they then say what we are all thinking! even if the voice acting feels a little off it's still awesome! like truly it's everything I wanted and more! ... well I don't know what more means in that circumstance but you know. I also love how when Mario and Luigi said "you, and the shroobs, will meet, your doom" and then there's kind of that moment of "wait that makes us sound evil, we gotta clarify that they attacked us!" basically what i'm saying is that the argument they were having was perfection! The Elder Shroob is hellbent on how her people needed a new home t live in and how she had no other choice but Mario and Luigi can't sympathies because things could have been resolved peacefully and anything that the shroobs had to deal with, they themselves are doing to the mushroom kingdom. they may be fighting for the same reason, but the Bros know that the shroobs are the evil ones. and then in the second last... chorus I guess? She keeps bringing up her arguments on why she is in the right while delving deeper into insanity, but the Mario Bros keep saying she had a choice and chose to start a war! you truly brought forth the essence of the characters and setting present in the fight. I don't know what else to say. SPECTACULAR JOB! CRITICAL HIT ON MOST LYRICS! EXCELLENT ON THE SINGING BROS ATTACK! +20 STACHE POINTS! ... I don't know but you nailed it

Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I'm truly touched to read this comment and analysis at that! Considering this was the song that made me start writing video game song covers in the first place, I'm overjoyed that I was able to surprise you like this. (I had written it all the way back in March of 2020, but I got around to releasing it in December of that year.) I hope that I may continue to write songs like this because, personally, I'm the kind of person who wants to write songs with as many characters as possible for the purposes of seeing all the various perspectives at play in the games I cover. I think this song in particular really highlights that since I think I was the first person to include the brothers in the song. If a song is one-sided, I think there's something lost in it as a result, so that's why I write song covers the way I do. Once Mario and Luigi started singing, I absolutely loved it! All the other 'With Lyrics' versions I heard of Elder Princess Shroob never have Mario and Luigi sing. The lyrics from the brothers show that they really don't want to end the Shroobs, but have to so they save their own future. And the voices sounding close to their official one is the cherry on top of the cake. Great work!

Thank you so much! I really think something is lost without the brothers singing in the song as well. (Actually, what's interesting is that I felt that way before all the other "With Lyrics" adaptations of this song came out since I wrote this song in March of 2020. I guess I was a bit ahead in that department.) It's not just this song I feel this way for, but basically any song I cover. I always like to have as many characters take part as possible since I love to hear from all of the characters. Another good example of this is the song cover I made for "The Credits Roll" from Super Mario 3D World since I had all the characters who appeared on screen, during the credits, sing. (Besides Plessie and the bunnies I guess.) I think that's probably something that sets me apart from other song cover writers. (It doesn't matter how impractical it may be with the number of characters present. If it would be a great song, I'll find a way to make it happen.) There's one song cover in particular that I'm really going to be pushing that limit on soon, so I hope that will pay off.

Hi everyone! Apologies again for the song's delay, but I wanted to make sure it was the best it could be. (There was an audio issue with one of the characters, and finals came out of nowhere for me, so it took a little time to sort that out.) This song made me kinda think about the Shroobs’ true intent more than I initially did with me just taking them in as a regular ol’ villain with its somber and sad approach of the tune blended perfectly with the DS soundchip instruments and the overall tempo of song. Then I listened to this lyric video and you honestly make me want to see the Shroobs return as a villain one day, even if it’s nearly impossible due to Alphadream’s unfortunate fate, but your lyrics that you gave to the song add so much more to this track than I ever thought that someone could squeeze out of a classic game that truly takes me back to the days of when all I had was a DS, Wii, and a few games that made me happy, so thank you, thank you for making my day be better by making a nostalgic song be given new life to its classic tune that I won’t soon forget!

Thank you so much! I've always wondered what it was that happened to the Shroobs' home that made them have to leave. We never get an explanation as to why their planet was dying but that they had no other option but to leave it. Part of me thinks that if this game had gotten a remake, like Super Star Saga and Bowser's Inside Story, the new side mode might have been from the perspective of the Shroobs with the same gameplay as Bowser's Minions and Bowser Jr.'s Journey, and maybe we would have even understood their language. It pains me to think that we will likely never see what it was Alphadream was planning for that remake if that's what was next on their agenda. (Maybe it was so the next new Mario and Luigi game could bring them back as the main antagonists.) This song was my love letter to that game because I feel it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. (And I was working on this song way before all the other song covers of this song showed up.) It makes me extremely happy that I could rekindle that magic the old DS and Wii games gave you, and I hope that maybe I'll do that again for you on another song one day.

Surprisingly, that's an actual ability in the game. (I'm honestly shocked they even had it in the game in the first place.) Basically, there are four badges that get you similar results: There's the "Dire-Free Badge" which lets you use an infinite number of Bros. Items whenever you have less than 25% health, there's the "Hit-Free Badge" which lets you use an infinite number of Bros. Items until you take damage in battle, there's also the "Training Badge" which lets you use an infinite number of Bros. Items at the expense of a bunch of attack power, and finally, there's the "Ulti-Free Badge" which lets you use an infinite number of Bros. Items with no downside. Honestly, I would've thought it was an Infinite Item Hack too if I myself hadn't used some of those badges when I originally played the game. (Note that I didn't actually record the gameplay for this video, but that is how I remembered the Bros. Items menu looked when I used those badges.) But yeah, thankfully that feature never came back to my knowledge. It was a bit TOO powerful for a Mario and Luigi game. Lol

I do know that there were some alive in Bowser's Inside Story, and I actually think that other shroob bosses were in the giant freezer thing Bowser kept the shoobs in including Elder Princess Shroob. I do wonder if there are any shroobs still around besides those, but I still wonder if all the shroobs felt the same way about the invasion. I guess we may never know sadly. (Of course, I wouldn't say they were all evil. In their mind, they were doing the right thing for their sake.)

There's a simple explanation for that. It's because they speak their own language along with Elder Princess Shroob. Of course, she was the only one to understand English enough to communicate with the brothers at the end of the game. I do wish we had a way to translate what they said, but that'll likely never happen, unfortunately. (If I had to guess how Elder Princess Shroob learned how to speak English, it could have been thanks to her time trapped inside the Cobalt star since she was aware of what was happening around her. That's just an educated guess of course.)

Yeah, I see what you mean. I'd argue it's acceptable since it's meant to be difficult because the attack doesn't end unless you make a mistake. If it was only Mario and Luigi, it would last a lot longer and be pretty broken I'd think. It would have been cool if that attack was brought back where only Mario and Luigi use it, but there is a cap on how many jumps the brothers can do. (If I had to say which Bros. Item game me the most trouble, I'd probably say the Pocket Chomp. It has been a while since I've played this game, so maybe I'd be better at it now.)

Why Did The Shroobs Even Come To Earth In The First Place? And What Were They Even Doing To The Toads?

In short, the Shroobs' planet was dying, so they needed to move to a new planet, or else their species would likely die out. (It just so happened to be Earth that they found.) As for what they did to the Toads, the Shroobs harvested the Toad species' Vim with trees. (Vim is the lifeforce of the Toads, and as the Toads' Vim was taken, they became part of the trees they were trapped in.) With the Vim, the Shroobs were able to power their Shroob Saucers. Not only that, but there were plenty of other Toads, as well as Bowser's minions, who were turned into purple mushrooms by the Shroobs as well. That's basically the short of it.

Well, the way I see it is that, if the Mario brothers had attacked the Shroobs first, and the Shroobs hadn't attacked them first, then I might see it that way. The Mario brothers weren't really given the chance to be the bad guys because they got invaded out of nowhere.

@@ravioli7905 Ohhh, I see what you mean. Actually, you might be interested to hear that most, if not all of the superiors, are cryogenically frozen in Bowser's castle basement. (You even fight a couple normal Shroobs who you accidentally unfreeze.) This happens in Bowser's Inside Story, in case you're wondering.

@@MagicalMarioFilms I'm doing fairly well. Well, aside from posting stuff obviously. The setup I've been using with how I've made the videos themselves haven't been too great, so it wasn't ever the most enjoyable thing to do. What's good though is that I'm about to have an actual PC for the first time, and it'll have no problems with the software I use to make my videos, so I think that'll give me the boost I need to get back into an upload schedule. (That's the plan anyway.)
