Hey everyone! Hope you're doing well! Final episode to my casual Superstar Saga playthrough, it's my first time doing a chill playthrough of a game I really enjoy playing, so hope y'all enjoy it! Brent did you know in the original game if you reflect a star in bowleta phase which kills her and die to the rest of the stars the game over screen plays but cackleta text box will pop up in the background and when the game tries to go to the soul phase it just softlocks

I personally think bowsers Castle is much better in the remake. The koopalings have pre battle dialogue and a few other neat things. Lemmy has a tell where the real one moves faster than the others. Iggy (or morton) swaps the bros stats for a bit. Ludwigs fight is the most unique as he only uses 1 attack and its essentially an instant KO spirit bomb, if you don't counter it, game over. Roy actually explains what the bob-omb does rather than some random text bubble. And finally Wendy and Larry's bob-omb time limit is a lot more strict.

Congrats, King of Skill! AlphaDream will definitely be remembered for the Mario & Luigi games! They were pretty fun and charming! Man, you made Cackletta's Soul look so easy! I played the 3DS remake about a year ago and I still had trouble with that part! Also, I think (at the time this game had come out), the Koopalings hadn't been seen for many years, so it was a surprise and novelty when they showed up in this game in 2003. However, Nintendo kept throwing them into so many games over the years, the novelty has since worn off.

Played this on NSO and beat it in like 2 days. Haven't played it in years so it was such a blast to jump back in it. Loved the series, King of Skill! Side note, the gear you obtain from E. Gadd is unbelievably broken. Specifically the Bonus Ring (double EXP if not hit in battle) and Great Force (double damage given and taken) as they apply to both bros no matter who has it equipped. Since I wasn't hit by the Trunkle boss right before Fungitown, I leveled up twice just from him.

I HAVE FURY I really like fawful as an antagonist of the mario and luigi series. You see him here, then he make a quick apparition in partner in time, and he's the main vilain in Bowser inside story. I really love the importance they gave him and how they developed the character

Cackletta is honestly one of the most well designed bosses in Mario's existence. It's challenging, the music is intense in all the right ways, and the mechanics of the fight keep you on your toes all the way through. She proves to be a menace worth fighting against and worthy of the title Final Boss. I honestly would love to see you do all the Mario and Luigi games, as these games meant a lot to me. It was truly heartbreaking to hear AlphaDream going bankrupt, but their games live on. Please Brent, if there was anything this humble, lowly peasant could ask for, is that THE king of skill himself continues on with Partners in Time. Some interesting facts with the game (+ the final part) now that the series is concluded: 1) Superstar Saga (and Partners in Time) are interesting in the fact that the North American version is actually the first version of the game to be released, therefore the least polished of the bunch. The Japanese and European versions released afterwards would patch out some bugs and rebalance a few items (such as nerfing the hilariously broken Mush Badges). An interesting tidbit of the NA release of the game is that it is the only version of the game that uses Popple's Theme for the final Fawful boss fight. Every other version, including the 3DS remakes, uses Cackletta's Theme from Woohoo Hooniversity. 2) The Koopalings being in Superstar Saga is very interesting time-wise. This is because they were absent in Mario games for about a decade (they last appeared in Hotel Mario of all games in 1994). After this game, they would absent for another 6 long years until they make their return in New Super Mario Bros Wii and has been a series regular since. 3) The Sniper Bills are using a Super Scope! Nintendo really loves referencing their old products, still to this day but especially back then. 4) Some of the Koopalings have a few unique attacks that are unfortunately not seen often because they go down really quickly if you know what you are doing. Wendy for example has an attack where you are supposed to jump over her energy rings, and Larry uses his paddle to deflect his shot fireballs back at you. 5) I find it interesting that despite Geno being a mere cameo in this game, there is a entire part of the credits at the end that is entirely dedicated to saying that Geno is a property of Square Enix. Seems like even having him as a cameo was an absolute pain to negotiate with, which would explain why he is absent in the 3DS remake. After this game, SSB4 (as a Mii costume) and Ultimate (as a spirit and Mii costume) would be the only other games he would appear in.

Dude the final boss for Partners in Time was the one that I struggled on so much as a kid. It literally took me like a month to beat it, and it took me a week of fighting the boss, putting the ds in sleep mode, then coming back the next day to fight it again to beat it in one try. Like you Brent, I didn't know that just leveling up POW is such a good idea as a kid, and also I played the game again later and found out that I was EXTREMELY underleveled. I was like level 20 going onto the final boss lol

Dude, Cackletta in the remake of this game used to be the bane of my existence when I was younger. IDK who at Alphadream thought it was a good idea to give all versions of her even MORE HP than usual, but man, when you didn't know about the eye shenanigans, you truly felt like a 2003 boy struggling at the final boss. Oh, and they severely increased her speed for her Soul phase too because why not. It was hell, least for me. Thing took me a straight hour of just avoiding attacks and Swing Bros.

Unironically, I genuinely liked the jokes end dungeon! The puzzles were tough enough to make you think. But the solutions were never obscure enough to make you look up a guide like the Bloat puzzle in Teehee valley. I did not enjoy Teehee valley. Except for the Popple and Birdo fight!

4:06 I like it when he loses his chomp, he either runs away, skips his turn or gets it back. Him running away is just the funniest thing. 4:13 Also in the VOD, I'VE NEVER SEEN LUDWIG BE THAT NICE! He only made Brent jump Twice to dodge him, the rest were all fake outs. He normally goes through the middle to make both bros jump. 4:40 I've heard atomic waffle. 5:50 as you advance through the Koopalings in the 3DS remake the timer on that bomb gets lower. 7:33 You can kinda tell when to do it when Both Bros arms are in the air. 8:29 in the VOD, Brent does say "Ackschtually, he does appear in the sewers in PiT now that I think about it" Either that or Chat corrected him. 8:35 And 3DS remake added music in this room. As a kid, I never got the hang of most of the advanced moves (the elemental ones, the spin and get item thing, and the burying Luigi over and over thing), mainly because I had no patience to understand it or waste a bunch of BP to learn it slowly and do less damage just to still not get it enough to pay off. So I saw Luigi buried underground and miss the timing on Cackletta and just carry Mario on top of his head, back to their side... and I busted a lung, he looks so upset while Mario is just like 'welp, moving along!' xD

Even though the save file glitched, his final time when he saved near the Great door is about the same when he saved at the beginning of Bowser's castle in another timeline. It took him an hour to do Bowser's Castle after taking 3 hours to get back there. So about a 10 hour game.

You know, I'm surprised throughout the whole game Brent didn't screw up the Thunder Bros. on purpose. I recall if Luigi jumps on the enemy with thunder ball on hand they lose defensive stat. That or Luigi fails the splash the thunder ball THEN the enemy lose defensive. Not sure if Brent knew that or not.

I forgot all about that Cyclone move that gives you Items because the last few runs I've done on this game were a long time ago, and I also self banned that move because I remembered it always making the game too easy. It's not the only one I banned, but I recall distinctly doing the banlist because of this move.

I'll miss alphadream. It made the best mario games I ever played growing up. I legit spend YEARS playing thier mario rpg games. Bowser inside story and partners in time remain one of my favorite in the ds. I wish they can comeback. I'm not gonna lie, the side stories in both the 1st and 3rd game with the minions was really enjoyable and later showed how this game had secrets that made so much sense. Like how mario ate the mushroom that got him sick, turns out it was because of captain Goomba and later how birdo went with fawful in the first place.

To me Mario and Luigi's toughest battle is Bowser X from Bowser's inside story, but Clacketta is up there too (original version, remake version is ridiculously nerfed and is so easy it's disappointing)

Legit the original superstar saga becomes putty in your hands once you get the right equipment…including the mushroom badge. It scales you power based on the number of mushrooms you own…meaning your attack can become near doubled with it equipped. That combined with what you did to put stats into speed to out speed cackletta’s soul and the final boss (in my opinion) becomes stupidly easy
