Thank you Mario for your heartfelt eulogy of Dan Gurney. Your love and respect for Dan is honest and true. Someday somewhere I can envision you and Dan and Jimmy and maybe a few others dicing for the lead in the GP of Eternity! (But not too soon, of course, plenty of time for eternity)

Mario is awesome! Especially his comments on EV. 😅 Right on point and I totally agree 1,000%. 👍😎

Mario knows! He raced in the Can-Am, along with Lola's, McLaren's, etc with Big Block Engines pushing 500 C.I.D.! He even drove a car with a Big Block 429 C.I.D. Motor!

Mario is in a class of his own. A true blue race car bred Champion thru and thru. He wouldn't be caught dead in an EV vehicle, as he says the "buzz" sound of a high-torque golf cart LMAO😅

I met Mario at Laguna Seca many years ago at an Indy Car event. I was a Safety Marshall and we happened to be in the same area around the Start-Finish line during our lunch break. It wasn't like we were discussing nuclear physics or anything but he was personable, seemed to appreciate the course workers, and was really pleasant to talk with. His comments here regarding EV performance vs conventional race cars reflects his (and my) bias toward an internal combustion engine that you control the performance in a much more intimate relationship than just stand on it and hang on... not to say that standing on the throttle of a big-block isn't "just stand on it and hang on;" you'd better be watching for the end of that straight... it's coming up REALLY fast!! Mario's comments toward the new technologies is very astute though, in that technology will evolve but keeping the driver's involvment and interest is imperitive if you want the larger fan base to appreciate what they're watching. Video games get old real fast and they're way too predicatable to sell enought tickets to keep the racers in business... and one never wants to lose sight of the fact that this is still a business.

God bless Mario Andretti he has always been an amazing amazing man in every respect and he'll be missed when he's gone but he still here and still a very entertaining I wish you would go over some of the videos that are out on him raising have him explain what he was doing when he was over taking this guy or trailing this guy I think that b fashion any so if anybody has contact with me really should have them go over these videos and and actually give his own assessment as to what's going on when he's racing that would be

perhaps but most of us still like the rumble and smells of alcohol, even if the electric has better low end torque and control over the power of the motor and adjustments you still got the heavy batteries

Can’t believe how tiny Mario is compared to the interviewer! How tall is Mario?
@johnbubb70125 жыл бұрын
It appears that both are seated and the chair heights are at least close (the tops are visible somewhere in this video). Or else the tops are at the same height and Mario's seat is somehow lower. I am taking a guess here, but seem to remember reading years ago that Mario is about 5'6" or 5'7" tall. That was pretty standard for most road race drivers. Most F1/Endurance sports prototype drivers in the past were relatively short. Not clear why, but hey, in contrast Dan Gurney was about 6'4". The interviewer here must be close to Gurneys height :| Gurney did not fit well in a lot of these little cars, and if you look at old photos/videos, it is easy to see that he stuck out of cars that most others fit into. Look up "Gurney Bubble" (so he could drive a Ford GT40 Mk II). The Gurney Eagle F1 car was large to accommodate him. Jackie Stewart (typical size for road racers back then) drove the 67 Spa winner recently and had some difficulty because he was too short to reach everything. Gurney drove a Daytona Cobra coupe at Le Mans in 1964, 1965. The first of the 7 was built in California, the remaining 6 built in Italy, 2 or 3 of which were mistakenly made with the roof too high. Gurney drove one of those - - because he could not fit in the correctly sized ones.

I’m not that bothered by his comments on EVs. With his age and what he’s been involved in his whole life it’s completely unsurprising. But if he can be won over by paddle shift, he’ll be won over by EVs as well I’m quite sure.

no way. I've met Mario 3 times in my life. twice at the races and once when he retired. He is a true blue race bred Champion who loves the sounds and adrenaline coming from v-12 Ferrari's. not the buzz sound as he says from EV high torque golf carts.😅
@ColinFox6 жыл бұрын
I wonder if he'd change his tune after a drive in the Roadster 2.0. He doesn't like how golf carts run out of steam -- the roadster will embarass all other gas cars on the road today. True drivers, I would imagine, would be pretty quickly won over. If the performance on the track matches what we see in the raw numbers, there's no turning back.

Ummmm.... Lamborghini built the LM002 from 1986 - 1993. It was where GM got all their ideas for the HUMV and Civilian Hummer. So why is it a shock that they are building an SUV?

The LM002 was an off road beast with a Countach V12 inside,the Urus is just a reskinned Q8 (and it's ugly)

toyotaprius79 Funny "dude", diesels are practically illegal in Germany. Maybe best to shut up and drive your Prius.
