As an Italian, I was petrified at the idea that Eataly might end up being another pretentious, overpriced, snobbish eatery/mall with no soul, but after watching a lot of videos from Eataly NYC and Eataly Chicago, I'd say they did a pretty good job applying and popularising Italian cuisine's attention to in-season produces and regional variations. Everything looks very authentic, by the way, including the cartels and tags in Italian -- no tourist-deceiving Itanglish detected. Still quite expensive, though.

Mari Batali is not was born in Italy end not had learned Italian Language.Explanation of the Italian recipes is often inaccurate or even wrong.If you want to see as cooking in Italy go on you tube and type ITALIA SQUISITA. as is written in Italian.Translate of Squisita "delicious"

diioriog this particular location is in a very high end part of New York, everything in NY is overpriced. His place IS expensive but if you want a very good place to eat, that's worthwhile, it's Eataly. Nothing worse than paying a lot of money for crappy food.

Never understood how anyone could spend more than $3 for dried pasta or more than $15 for olive oil (which for the most part comes from Greece or Spain where the oil is a thousand times better).

Ate there and it was shit. Average food, bad service, $$$ Looked nice though. Had a much better meal from the halal guy on the sidewalk in front of the museum.
