I played bass in the Machito band from ‘68 to ‘73. Mario was musical director. I have always regretted not spending more time learning from him.

Got to witness the legend when he made a comeback in the early 90s Uphams Corner in Boston! Patato of course playing congas sitting on a 5 gallon bucket. The shit was lovely saw the legend for only 10 bucks! The previous week or so went to MIT and saw Los Muñequitos on their first US tour got there during midshow tickets were sold out so i got to walk in for free......the good days!
