Dear None. You talk about something that is very interesting. I know this from my own experience in orchestration, with my own works. Precisely yesterday I talked about this with one of my students, about some opera arias. Some directors forget the solo instrument and pay attention only to the orchestra. And also, many directors imagine that they have discovered a new focus in the work when they emphasize planes in a row, or when they sing more to one instrument than to another. It really is a matter for a long conversation.
