I noticed something while I was watching the movie. Peach uses a power-up two times in the movie, and the power-ups that she uses are flower themed, and they are used when she is with the two characters who have feelings for her, Bowser and Mario. When she is with Bowser, she uses an Ice Flower to freeze him and to show him that she will never marry a monster like him. But when she is with Mario, she uses a Fire Flower while opening up to Mario about herself and her backstory, while subtly developing feelings for him. It’s like she’s giving Bowser the cold shoulder while being warm towards Mario. On a side note, she also force feeds them mushroom power-ups for different reasons. With Bowser, she force feeds him a Blue Mushroom, which shrinks him, so she can punish him for all the crimes he has done. But with Mario, she force feeds him a super Mushroom so she can help him overcome his shortcomings to rescue his brother.

And to add more to this, we also got how naturally Peach interacts with Mario after he and Donkey Kong manage to save Luigi, Cranky, and the other prisoners Bowser was going to execute. 3:20 is where it begins, with how we see him fuming when he sees how close Mario and Peach have gotten in such a short time before he manages to break his head loose from the ice, letting his fury show at Peach breaking his heart. We also see it in the Rainbow Road scene before Bowser sends his Koopa Troopas to go after Mario, Peach, Toad, and the Kong Army and his snarling as he watches Mario and Peach chat.

You know what's ironic? Bowser spent the whole movie thinking that Mario's here to steal Peach's heart from him, when in reality, Mario only sought out Peach to seek her help in rescuing his brother Luigi from Bowser. Plus Mario and Peach only just met for the first time. However by kidnapping his brother Luigi with the threat to kill him to spite Mario and by threatening to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom should Peach refuse to marry him, Bowser ended up creating an adventure for Mario and Peach to bond over, and by trying to kill Mario so he can have Peach to himself, he ended up deepening the bond between Mario and Peach to the point where they are starting to flirt with each other and even hold hands, therefore setting the groundwork for their bond to blossom into romance in the future. As Oogway himself said it, "One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it."
