L’ho sentito al Teatro dell’Opera,a Roma, nel Tell. Era impressionante,i do erano saette,i più formidabili do che abbia mai sentito in teatro.e,anni prima piegava quella voce d’acciaio in filati e sfumature incredibili.

Very beautiful voice with lightening in the top of register but (in my opinion) more suitable for Verdi (es Rigoletto, Aida or Trovatore) than in belcanto repertoire. Filippeschi was absolutely capable to sing roles as Arnoldo or Arturo of Puritani from a vocal point of view but the stile requested by Rossini, Bellini or Donizetti was not fully mastered I think. Anyway I would like very very much to have a singer like Mario Filippeschi today.

@@mariofilippeschi4855 I would also love to see you have a channel on KZbin for this special tenor, his story and his passion. Dig in some rare footage. Facebook, yes. But it seems KZbin is more popular and easier use.

@@mariofilippeschi4855 I believe you can download from Met and other theatres, they do have some limits, but Mario stayed local, probably most of them from Span and Italy. Those theatre and library be ideal place, plus some old movies. Do not buy anything.

Imagine being able to sing like that, with that kind of voice! There is probably no one alive today who has the chops to do such a thing! In fact, I consider Filippeschi's rendition of Arnoldo's scene to be the reference. The only other interpretation that even comes close in my opinion is that of the great lyric tenor Gianni Raimondi.

Well great voice but they cut the most difficult part--not to mention the repeat of "Amis amis secondez a la vengeance..." section (or whatever the words are in the Italian version).
