Mario Forever, one of the first Mario fangames that truly managed to somewhat capture the feel of the official games. It features wacky new power-ups like the Beetroot and Green Lui. It was developed by Polish programmer Michal Gdaniec (Buziol) and first released in 2004.
In 2021, the game received a remake for the Super Nintendo by Beasteye89 as a ROM hack of Super Mario World. This is based on version 4.0 of the game. Contains all 12 worlds from the original game as well as a brand-new secret world!

I played the actual PC version of Mario Forever since 2007. And then played Mario Forever 2012 edition, that looks more like some fan made modern Mario game. Both games are not bad, but like I said, I'm not a Mario fan, so I didn't played it very much but simply until I get tired of it or stuck.
