Mario Kart 64 - New Cast, Full Voiced!

New characters with their own voices include Waluigi, Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot, Samus Aran (Metroid), Banjo (Banjo-Kazooie) and Link (Legend of Zelda). Shovel Knight replaces Yoshi.
This is running on a real N64, captured from RGB (I think I left a sharpener on accidentally which has made it look worse) via an Everdrive, but the ROM would also work on emulators.
A big thank you to Zouzzz from X-Community.grafbb.com who created and implemented the new characters, and for pointing me to N64 SoundTool so I could figure out how to add the new voices to the ROM. Bloody hell, KZbin didn't let me know anyone had commented XD There's a reason Shovel Knight wasn't voiced in this version, we couldn't locate Yoshi's voice files. The original audio clips took me two days to find by literally replacing every audio clip individually to find them because they don't sound like they do in-game. The N64 plays sound in a loop and changes the pitch and speed on the fly. They've been found now and can be replaced, but they operate like Bowser and Donkey Kong's voice clips, only a looped "good" and "bad" audio clip. We are currently trying to see if we can fully voice those three characters too, but it will require a lot more work to change up the coding.

I'm working with modifications made alongside other people. I figured the voices and implementation but the visuals were made by someone else, which accounts for their darkness and the fact Link does not have a character select or in-game image. To stop it being Bowser in-game I used Majora because at least it was Zelda-related. We really do need to finish Link off. :p

one criticism I have is that Banjo makes way more sounds and noises than juts "guh huh". like he says "Oh" and sometimes "No" and like all these really wacky slapstick noises and such. I don't think his voice clips represent him well, from what I can see. Edit: Link also kinda has the same problem

You have 8 characters to replace in Mario Kart, 3 of them only have 2 voice samples (Bowser, Yoshi and Donkey Kong) and at this time they can't be extended. The other characters have between 6 and 10 to play with. At this time we have found how to modify each character, but not extend any of the programming (Adding more voice line or adding more characters) so anyone replacing DK, Bowser or Yoshi can only have two voice clips that loop. Ironically I do have a fully-voiced Banjo and Link, I just didn't use them on this build. I'll have to render that ROM and place it up here for others to see too.

This looks pretty good! The biggest issues are the brightness, and the selection screen models. Sonic's and Samus' models are really poor. -> Sonic's voice clips are also pretty annoying.

Thanks guys, yeah I've never played a Crash game (of my 41 consoles, the Playstation 1 and 2 have only just been added recently, never owned them way back when) so I figured he had the same voice across the series. By the number of angry comments on his voice, it appears that was an incorrect assumption XD Easily fixable though.
