Really wish this ride was more similar to radiator springs racers. The AR tech and set pieces are cool but the cars going 5 MPH really takes away from the whole racing feeling in Mario Kart. Maybe the DK coaster will be better. Regardless looking forward to Super Nintendo World!

As an IP based off a video game, it's no brainer that a Mario Kart dark ride would become interactive just like a video game

The DK coaster will not be as fast as you'd expect from the speed you got in snes games. There is a hidden coaster beneath it attached to a seperate track. So the fake track you are on with gaps and whatnot make it appear you are jumping over the gaps when the actual hidden track beneath it you are following has a curve to immitate that action. That's the selling point with it, not so much speed.

@@adam92682 Both carts are attached with a steel beam. Essentially the hidden coaster is what you are riding. And the fake track with the gaps that you see are just that, a fake track. An illusion.

So is it going to be as slow and bright as the Japan version? Universal needs to increase the speed of the karts and darken the lights within the ride. The end of the ride, Rainbow Road, is a perfect example of how the whole ride should operate. They made it too much like a Disney dark ride, but it’s Mariokart and it should be fast and more immersive. Also they should do something about being able to see the walls and floor while riding the ride, that’s why lowering the lights might help.
