Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will continue to live on. I mean, people still play Mario Kart Wii religiously. It would be neat for the next Mario Kart to give you the option to play Double Dash style. Nintendo really raised the bar for both Mario Kart and Smash Bros. Those are going to be tough acts to follow!

We finally made it where an SNES track is a god tier course. I don’t think people would mind SNES tracks in the next mainline Mario Kart game if Nintendo put as much effort into remaking them as they did with Bowser Castle 3. In all honesty, there were some tracks I wished they would returned such as Wario Colosseum and Dry Dry Ruins, but if the reason they didn’t bring them over is so they would be part of the base game in the next mainline Mario Kart, I would accept that reason.

Nintendo owns the title character, but Rare/MS owns everything else about Diddy Kong Racing. Neither can rerelease it without the other's involvement. (MS MIGHT be able to cut Diddy out and release it as Conker Racing or something, idk.)

I think Nintendo can go 2 ways with the next Mario Kart. Either Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Booster Course Pass gets ported AGAIN to the next console. Keeping everything it has right now, and adding DLC on top of that. Or, Mario Kart 9 will have a revolutionary gameplay mechanic. I do not think the next game will just be another title. Nintendo needs a reason for people to pick the next game over the 90+ tracks in MK8D+BCP.

Mario Wonder got nominated for if I remember correctly 5 awards including Game of the Year. Pikmin 4 got nominated for best family game and best strategy game. I feel like it might lose family game to Mario Wonder but strategy game is definitely a good chance. Not to mention the love that Nintendo has been showing Pikmin recently by putting all 4 games (Hey Pikmin doesn’t and never will count) on the Switch.

What do I think is GOTY? That's very different questions depending on what I think will be _awarded_ that title versus what I think is _actually_ GOTY. The former is probably some "realistic" game that won't actually keep any relevance into next year, and the latter is... Pizza Tower.
