For those curious about why Japanese players are so good, it's because the competitive community is massive here. Once you explore the Japanese side of KZbin, you'll instantly notice how seriously Japanese people take this game. With numerous tutorials and livestreams uploaded daily by various Mario Kart content creators, it's no surprise that they have a significant advantage.

@@Shortcat321Yeah once I get my hands on mario kart, I think I’m gonna be looking at some Japanese guides, as well as your videos to memorize and get the hang of all the shortcuts! By the way, do you have any guides for which track I should be front running and which track I should be bagging? As a new player, I think one of the first things I’m gonna struggle with is understanding when to front run and when to bag, except for few courses.
@Ineverdie088 ай бұрын
@@Shark-vx7nlFrom watching a lot of his videos, I've come to learn that normally you bag on maps that have lots of shortcuts in order to fully take advantage of the mushrooms, stars, golden mushrooms, etc. since they will easily allow you to take every shortcut. On maps that are more linear, with very little to no shortcuts, ideally you would want to front run, but bagging can still be used if you fall to like 9th-12th place because you might as well bag to catch up to the front. As a new player though I dont recommend worrying about this so much. I think learning lines, routes, and shortcuts along with item usage will help you a lot more than bagging. Once you get the hang of maps, shortcuts, and knowing when to attack or defend with your items, you can start throwing bagging strategies into the mix. Good luck on your races!

I travel back and forth between the Japan and USA regions for life (as opposed to for work) and I can confidently say that in addition to the lag, the Japan lobbies *are* just better. More players in Japan will put more effort into getting good, memorizing patterns, absorbing strategies, and learning from mistakes/bad habits than in the US. This makes even casual lobbies even a bit harder, forcing even the more casual players to toughen up to survive. In the US region, I feel like there are a bunch more players trying to force things that don't work, who balk at learning anything deeper than the basic controls, and are quick to give up if something beats them a lot. Of course the good players are good in both regions, but when I hop online in the US, there's an idiom I never used before that pops in my head: "like shooting fish in a barrel." XD

1:44 The dedication to Japanese is admirable. I went to the Reverso website, set it up to translate English to Japanese, typed in "Shortcat" in the English section, and what I got on the Japanese section is the first place username. 👍 Flipping the sides around to translate those Japanese symbols to English worked almost as well. Reverso put a space in between "Short" and "cat" because it doesn't recognize "Shortcat", all one word, as an actual word. 🤣 5:50 Stilt hop! Silly Shy Guy on stilts. 😆 8:45 F Looks like Yoshi's Island is Japanese Shortcat's Kryptonite. 👀 11:26 Meanwhile, I'm better at 200cc than I ever was before (but I still suck, so don't get that twisted 😆) because I've been doing some 200cc time trials (which I didn't bother to do before Wave 6 dropped). 12:09 I gotta disagree. Toad's Turnpike (which *was* great on the N64 but isn't anymore), Baby Park (which *can* be great if there are *no COMs* and exactly 5 or 6 players), and Los Angeles Laps (which was never great the way we actually got it, as over 99% of the course was botched to the point where it became jank) exist. 💔 12:41 I'm American and stick with the name the "non North Americans" use. 13:09 Nearly a midair squishality. I'm somewhat surprised that it *wasn't* a squishality. 13:52 Because of the way this race was edited, we viewers don't know if this was a 12-player room either. Only the ones with eagle eyes who count the number of icons on the minimap know for sure. 18:56 Watah in the fiyah... *WHY?!?* I love making this commentary whenever it legitimately applies. It's one of the silliest pleasures I have in the Mario universe. 🤣❤ 25:05 The item warfare up front and these recovery strips do allow for comebacks, but it's not a reliable strategy if you're unfortunate enough to fall behind (like you did in this race up to this point). 25:49 Told you comebacks are possible. 😆 A rare "I told you so" moment in my commentary on a Shortcat video. This might be the proudest I've ever been. 😎
