Upon further reflection… I would love nothing more than to see the Mario Kart Tour scene remain just as competitive in this next era. If the best players keep playing, and even keep spending, it could be a very exciting time still with lots to look forward to as far as investments are concerned.

I'll keep playing (and spending - somewhat) as long as the game is still around, which hopefully is like a decade or more, even if they don't add new content. They can still do tours with the current tracks and drivers, karts, and gliders. Wish, though, they added more battle tracks. Maybe in the battle tour upcoming, they'll add at least one new battle track, perhaps?

Hearing the news was really sad for me, have been playing this game since day 1. The one thing that kept me interested in MKT was the new content we would get every 2 weeks, it was always exciting to see what new things we would get. Now that's all gone... 😭

Man 4 Strong Years this game has been with me. So many fond memories from anticipating tours so much that they couldn’t let me sleep until I played them in the morning, from draining all my rubies every tour to try to get a character, and then to either get heart broken and depressed for not getting anything or to be filled with joy and excitement for getting the spotlight(s), to getting pissed off at the Ranked Cup CPUs for always messing up my combo. I started watching Kart Life all the way from the beginning, since when your were pulling pipes for the classic spotlights in a bar back in 2020😅and man Sammy it’s been a blast to always have a youtuber to cover the same thing I was playing and that we both where very fond of. Sure there was a lot of an up and down relationship with Tour itself, especially the dark filler age of 2021, but you always put a positive outlook on the game and you we’re always optimistic. Though the game is still gonna be around it’s still bitter sweet to say goodbye to an era, one that alot of people will not get to experience. But let’s do like the people in the second section of Amsterdam Drift and raise a glass and get drunk for Mario Kart Tour!🍻🏎️

I don't want this game to ever end. Even if they stop making content, I'll still play and max out my account, possibly get all drivers, karts, and gliders I'm missing, and still spend money (of what I can afford.) I hope the whole game actually gets ported over to the switch, on Nintendo Switch Online, so it can be downloadable there, and you can import your Nintendo account from the game to save all the drivers, karts, and gliders, and whole game from the mobile devices.

Bro I have been play this game for 4 years and my android phone got destroyed by accident, now I got a new phone (im still waiting for the real new phone because im using a motto right now as a backup) but i cant download Mario Kart Tour, so it's a little pain to see this kinda ending the Characters, Karts, and, Gliders. I think about all the competitive games that I grew up on (Mario Kart 64, Street Fighter 2, etc) and how playable those games were/are with no new content. There's still so much left to play, characters to invest in, personal strategies, etc. Hopefully it makes things more competitive as players, new and old, are able to cover their bases better

I’m really hoping Tour gets a sequel in the future. It could have “open world” city tracks where you could drive in any route (similar to yoshi valley). The recent news regarding Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp leaves me kinda hopeful for the future of Mario Kart Tour. Pocket Camp’s end of service has been confirmed for November, but Nintendo also revealed that they’ll be making a purchasable offline version available. I'll keep playing the game. I'ts a little sad that the new content comes to an end but now I can start working on something else in the game: getting the drivers, karts and gliders I missed out on in the past. With no new content I don't need to save rubies for new Mii suits or stuff like that I can use them to get new items for my account. That new collecting aspect will be exciting for me since at the moment I'm only getting new stuff if I lack something in ranked.

I don't know how to feel man, I literally just got back into the game (not sure if you remember me) and not only was I disappointing to see in the 8 months of absence only 1 new battle track was added (a city one at that) and I find it utterly pathetic that after 1 WHOLE YEAR of battle mode being added they're STILL redoing the same 3 tracks every tour over and over and over, I'll prolly keep playing cuz I really wanna invest in Gold Digger Dry Boners and Ice Mario (my 2 babies) but damn man this does suck a lot. I can’t help but feel sad as well. As a day 1 player, just like everyone else I feel there’s so much to the game they could’ve added but didn’t. They could’ve easily dragged this game on for a year or 2 longer. Besides the city tracks, I hope everything else isn’t stuck in the game forever. The alts, other unique tracks like RMXs, etc. are some things I’d love to see in the next Mario Kart or a sequel to Tour if you will. I've been playing the game since the latest Mario vs. Luigi Tour and I've been watching you since the Vacation Tour, meaning I am a newer player. I wish I somehow got to play it from the beginning or at least more than now. What makes me say this is the lost opportunities, many excitements. But I guess it's fate. I am just blabbing maybe, please let me be. I knew this coming but I didn't want to believe it happening. I felt so disappointed and I still have worries. I don't know why I care about it so much but I still want to ride on shiny Rainbow roads and I still want to collect some characters just out of interest. We already have over 200 drivers, 200 tracks (with all the variations), 250 karts, etc. We can work with that. What did people think? That this would go on forever until we have 1000 drivers? No need to get more..... seriously. Besides, unless you already have every single driver, kart, and glider, you will still have (for you) new stuff!

It is kind of crazy to think, 1 more tour of new content and then nothing. 4 years of new content every 2 weeks, to nothing. No new tracks, no new drivers, karts, and gliders. Nothing. I understand what's about to happen but I don't think it's quite hit me yet haha. I suppose in hindsight the warning signs were there. And I'm not talking about all that datamining stuff and the ID gaps or whatever they're called; I don't understand any of that 😂. I'm talking in terms of obviously the rate at which they dumped new tracks into the game (as well as so many new DKGs to go along with them). The Extreme Challenges in hindsight was also an indicator that there wasn't really going to be anything after tier 99. There's some speculation about what comes next. Will there be any more updates to the game? Could they raise the tiers, the player level, or even bring level 9 or 10 into the game? Who knows. It is interesting to know that the coverage we have on all the tracks is basically going to be set in stone now. It will be interesting to see the impact that has on ACR as far as people who want to go for top 1k, top 100, or even top 10s. No new content can certainly be a positive in the sense of allowing people to catch up on DKG purchases and investments, as well as newer players climbing up the tiers. I have no plans on quitting the game. As long as the game is still running, I'll probably be playing. This announcement definitely does change some things though. I think for the first couple tours or so after the 4th Anniversary, I will be very curious and paying very close attention to what happens in the game, and how this news affects what happens in the game, how the game is played, etc. I wonder how the track selection and rotation is going to be like? Will there only be 1 tour every year with all the Rainbow Roads for example? Or will they spread it out so we get to play some of the Rainbow Roads throughout the year? We haven't seen any Rainbow Roads that I can remember since Space Tour in January. Lots of questions that will be answered in the coming months. I look forward to seeing what happens, although this news is a little bit bittersweet, and feels like the end of an era. But hey, at least the game isn't ending, and we can still enjoy playing it for what it's worth

It comes at a time that I think I’m okay with it. Ever since they got rid of the “got’cha” component I’ve been struggling to really get excited about the game anymore. I thought just up front being able to purchase everything in the shop would be great at first but after it actually happened it really just took the motivation away. You know exactly how many rubies your going to need and there’s no anticipation about whether you’re going to get the next big driver. That’s also when “rare” items stopped being a thing. The small bonus is that it will still be fun for a while as I never started when it first came out so there’s probably 20-25 drivers I don’t have. I’ll be able to get all of those and not worry about saving rubies. I’ll also save a bit of cash because obviously I’ll be cancelling gold pass and there will be no need to buy even the odd pack here and there. I don’t know. It’s a bit sad and losing your channel will be a part of that but…I think I’m okay with it honestly. We’ll have probably another year to “say goodbye” then a whole lot of people will stop playing. We knew it was coming. On to the next thing. It really was a fun ride while it lasted though :)

I’m actually okay with this news. As you said, it’s not a massive surprise. Aside from bugs (like Battle Mode still being in Ranked), there’s not a lot more I need out of the game in terms of functionality; I love it as it is. I will miss not having any new tracks, because Tour always seemed to find new ways to surprise and impress me with their racecourses. But I’m not the kind of person who sinks their teeth into the metagame very much. I do try to win Ranked, but if I don’t, I don’t mind as much as I used to. (If flocks of people leave, hey, that means I might finally be able to reach level 70, haha. 😂) We already have so much to explore here, and if they add a level 9 (and 10), instantly we have more tickets to collect. I totally get it if people are devastated by this news. I’d be lying if I said I was thrilled at it, but I think we’re going to be okay. 🙂 I’ve been here since Tour 2, and for me it’s always been about the actual racing. We have so much of that yet to do! Here’s hoping the last few tours do some neat changes before the “kthxbye”. 😉 Thanks for the video, Sammy! There are true mkt fans that play the game for their love of Mario kart. If you look at mk8, that game was static on content since after the wii u updates, and you still had people playing it religiously for the fun of the game. We will have mkt as long as the cost of maintaining the service in loop mode is making money. I guess the gotcha going away was the first steps adjusting the game for loop mode, 1 year later. Other Nintendo franchises with gotcha didn’t have them removed, so I was wondering why not, I’d mkt was just a try at it. Now I understand that it’s because those games are going to continue with the same new content at the same usual pace.

I was expecting this after all the datamining but honestly was hoping that more content would be found in the files after some of the updates. I think MKT could have had about one more year of solid new content, especially thinking about the cities that they neglected to make tours for (more like entire continents) drivers from previous games not in the game, retro tracks etc. I think a good compromise would have been to keep the concepts of the tours looping but then provide some new content e.g. peach beach in the "peach tour" or say Rio in a "city tour".

I would just hate to see this channel end whenever Tour truly ends! :( Not sure how much coverage you could get out of a new game. Guess it depends on how replayable it ends up being. All things considered, it's pretty fair to expect that things'll largely just be 'over' and cycle only through old stuff. As soon as Nintendo removed the gacha, the revenue generation of MKT dropped off quite a bit, at least around 33% or more, on top of the earnings peak for their mobile ventures being all the way in 2019, plus that Nintendo's essentially said they're not (as) interested in pursuing the mobile market for a while now. The community voted with their wallets to pull back along side the end of the pipes a year ago and if anything that likely contributed to the accelerated pace, given Nintendo has likely been projecting where things were going not long after. They may well have slowed down and extended the support if that aspect hadn't changed. If the community keeps up the current level of support, MKT may last a while longer but in the end its longevity will be attached to the willingness to continue opening wallets more than anything else.

It’s ok cause I have over 2,000 wins in multiplayer and it really doesn’t mean anything. I put a whole lot of time to playing MKT online and my record feels like owning an NFT. Unless I open my game and show someone my record I’m simply catering to my own ego by continuing to get wins online. There are no tournaments for MKT and I’m happy to finally put the game down and focus my energy on other things now! Like CHESS!! :)

At the end of the day, this was inevitable. Tour is worked in by many of the regular Mario Kart devs. While they are working on Tour, they aren't putting their full resources into the next game and as the next console is coming soon, they are going to want to put all their resources there. This is just kinda how it has to be, and as someone for whom the console games are the priority, I see this as a move towards the greater good. With that said, I am sad. Tour is a game I spent three years dispising because I saw it as a symptom of why we were not getting a new Mario Kart, but playing it this past year I am now glad they did this rather than just making a normal Mario Kart. It is such a special game, not my favourite Mario Kart but among them, and the past year has been wonderful. The gameplay is something genuinely unique that I cannot help being hooked by, and this game has given me things like my Bro Chargin' Chuck or a remake of GBA Bowser Castle 4 so good that if is now among my favourite courses in the franchise. Singapore has been such a special course for me too, being my thrid favourite course in the franchise. I hope that the next game continues Tour's legacy. All these costumes should be brought back, all these remade versions of the retro courses could be excellent retros in a console game too. I hope the RMX courses don't disappear forever either, as they have become one of my favourite parts of this game. I hope we have a course creator in the next game that makes it possible to recreate some of these excelent variants that are currently going to fade into the aether. And most of all, I really hope the high score based gameplay is reused, maybe as a new mode. It is sad but for now, as I have only had a year of investment in it and I am never massive into the meta, I am gonna be able to enjoy the repeated content well enough. I just hope the game doesn't go away completely too soon. I feel I need more time with it.

Literally didn’t even know about MKT until June and the night tour. Since, kind of a whale. And sad I missed the good times. The message was TOTALLY deflating. As if mkt players are an afterthought. Though, having not played MK since n64, it’s still fun, and I’m still excited to see, hopefully, the other 80% of the tracks I have yet to see. I tell you what though, I hope they switch things up and have more varying tracks on a tour. Not the same 3-4 tracks w all their variants. That would be fun.

There is a risk of people leaving. But, I think a lot of people will stick around until the game is no longer available. I don't think it'll happen anytime soon. Yes, we will have events that will repeat themselves constantly. I can't wait to see how the combinations turn out over the course of a year. Will you always have the same themes around the same period or will you be entitled to a return of the last 4 years with each of the themes before it repeats? From now on, I'm going to invest less and less in the premium challenges and just keep the gold pass at the end. Since there won't be any content, this will be an opportunity for all of us to improve the good deals. Then there will be no point in playing when we get all the items in a gradual and slow manner. I will continue to play. But, I'm going to focus more on trying a top 100 one day than buying more pipe shots. At some point you have to move on.

I don't agree that this change will kill off the game's meta and end the strategic aspect. If your end-game goal is to get 8/4 coverage on every track, it's not like you can magically get there from one day to the next. It will take a long time and it won't be trivial to decide on the best plan to go forward, with 1000+ items as options. Furthermore, it will continue happening that the investments that would help you in ranked won't align with the long-term plan. Yes, the meta will be very different from what it is now, but it won't by any means be straightforward.

But when you have 8/4 or even 7/3 on everything, what will you use it for, as competitors thin out? The drive to invest and make a great account is built on the idea that there will be competition for you to face. Ask any whale- it’s anticlimactic when there’s no one to compete with. We will lose that whole balance.

I dont understand why keep the game going with no new content the new content is what people coming back for the most part This is a horrible thing to happen if they are still making money why do it ? I think its the pipes thats done it because they were a huge source of income for mkt tour

Gonna be honest, you gotta let go man. It's a gacha game and they're sunsetting it. There's going to be almost no players willing to stick with a game like this that isn't getting new content and even on the reddit you see people en masse unsubbing from gold pass and the like. EOS is on the horizon and the sooner you accept it the better. It sucks, it really does, I think about a couple games I loved still that are gone, but it is what it is
