Mario Kart Wii - Custom Missions Showcase!

A look at some of the first custom missions that have been made by various authors! Credit to WexosMK, AtlasOmegaAlpha and ComputerBot2016 for many of these!
Following on from the release of the code that allows people to access the unused Mission Mode of Mario Kart Wii, several people have been working away at inventing missions. And in this miniature series, I will be showing off some of these missions, as well giving details on how to get access to them!
In this particular video, I look at 8 missions:
- Attacking Pokeys in Dry Dry Ruins by Atlas
- Gates on Grumble Volcano by Wexos
- Gates on Block Plaza by ComputerBot2016
- Coins on DK's Snowboard Cross by ComputerBot2016
- Attacking Swoops on Wario's Gold Mine by Wexos
- Breaking wooden boxes on Coconut Mall by Atlas
- Chasing moving item boxes on Moonview Highway by me
- Attacking CPU racers on Thwomp Desert by me
Some of these missions would make for pretty good tournaments/competitions, if they were converted into the right form. I could see people having fun competing for the top times!
My own missions are for the time being inaccessible, as I am still working on them. However, Wexos, Atlas and ComputerBot2016 have all uploaded their missions for anyone to try. You can see more of their missions, and how to play them yourself at their respective videos:

Please note: If you intend to try these mission packs, it is best to use a license that you do not intend to connect to the Wiimmfi custom server. Although completing a mission seems to do very little, we have received reports that finishing times on missions can end up at the current tournament leaderboards, which is not quite the idea, so it must be overwriting something in the save. Therefore, use a clean license and don't take it online until further research is done!

My MKWii disc has gone missing and every time I go roam around the video game store I see it in stock there and I feel a mighty need Went over to distant family's place and their TV and Wii are no longer compatible so they let me take some of their games and stuff and they had a MKWii box too but I went through all their cabinets and the disc was gone completely too

i have an idea if its possible, can you make it so that the tournament mode intro and victory music plays when starting a mission. because in the files, the tournament intro theme is called "o_Crs_In_Fan_mission". which could mean that it the tournament mode assets were going to be used for mission mode.

Yes. You can. Just Change those names to the battle intro and battle victory and you are good to go.

Hi MrBean35000vr, it's me again, so I got another question for you about CTGP: Can you try a time to add Mariokart 8 tracks in CTGP or are that tracks to glitchy in CTGP?

MrBean35000vr I have a really big problem with CTGP-R. It started yesterday when I wanted to get BootMii so just incase i accidentally bricked my Wii. So when ever i tried to open the LetterBomb Hack for homebrew it opened up the CTGP-R Luncher. So i naturally deleted CTGP-R and it worked. Until I installed BootMii and tried getting back CTGP-R. So I redownloaded CTPG-R and I could launch it from Homebrew then it would tell me to to launch CTGP-R from a SD that had it installed on there and it was. I tried every different file combination about were the files could go in the and then in the root of my SD card. Maybe I missed something or what because i get that error every time. Any help would be appreciated and sorry for the lengthy comment I just need help. Also i deleted everything on my SD card so it only had LetterBomb, Homebrew Browser, and CTGP-R.

4:51 That's still a better name than the American name to me. "summit" makes me think of the track from Double Dash and this, but "Snowboard Cross", even if that doesn't flow nicely, would bring to mind this particular track.

Always glad to hear about new stuff for Mario Kart Wii. Can't believe there was the framework for a mission mode in there the whole time.... Oh and is it still only possible to run CTGP using a disc? My copy of MKWii is scratched to hell and doesn't work much anymore so I've been using a backup loader for it. If it's possible to use CTGP with a backup file that would be great but if not my disc works most of the time. Either way, keep up the awesome work

I have a mission idea! Take a hard track, like rainbow road or wario gold mine and spam it with obstacles, speed boost, items, etc... The task would be to complete a lap without falling off and in a time limit

I'm having an issue adding CTGP to my system. I read the readme, and it told me to come to the channel to ask. I added it to my SD card, and started it up via Homebrew Channel. I went though the terms and such, and it went to download updates. I think it had 3 initially, so it must have installed the first one fine, but it froze on the second update at 5.45%. I shut the wii off and on again to try the update again, where it got stuck again at 1 update needed, 4.71%. Should I try deleting the stuff and downloading again, or try installing some other way?

Yeah, if that happens, best thing to do is copy the files onto the SD card again, and let the channel retry. Be somewhat patient with it, it can sometimes do things after it gets stuck for a bit. If the progress bar doesn't move in about 2 minutes, probably safe to assume it isn't going to.

Hrm, annoying. I take it you removed all of the files from the SD card before copying the redownloaded files on? If you have another SD card, you could try that, perhaps. It's possible that the CTGP-R Channel could just be really bad at working with your type of SD for some odd reason. Or you can get a fully updated CTGP from someone who happens to have one of those; I update the main download link semi-regularly (I'm slightly behind), but my build currently has beta content installed in it so I can't provide one right now.

I didn't try removing the files, since I figured that it would have written over any broken ones. And I would prefer not taking the rest stuff off the SD or using a new one seeing as I have backup roms and other Wii stuff also on there. I'll try that as well, but is there any possibility that it could be a compatibility issue with the other apps? Though, when I first added it, it only rewrote boot.elf

These are custom missions, that is to say, they've been made completely from scratch. There are no hidden mission files in the game; just the code for the game mode exists, so any scenarios like ones you see here will be completely hand-made.

Sounds like a damaged install. Redownload it and try again.

That's a corrupted download. Redownload, replace the files on the SD card, and try again.
