Yeah, you summed up a lot of my thoughts about Brothership pretty well. Despite having some glaring issues, it's honestly such a great game in other areas that I can't hold those issues against it too much.

I think it falls short of paper jam overall, but the gameplay is pretty solid

I'm happy you and many others were able to love this game as it is a good game. But man, the one thing that hurts this game is the pacing. Like I see so many say the highest highs in the entire Mario franchise, but the pacing is some of the worst in any game. I hate to be this way towards this game, and don't want to undercut how good of a job Archive did with reviving this series, but I can agree, they could've shaved off like 15 hours of this game to make it a much more enjoyable experience as it feels like it has design elements built in to purposefully waste your time. I can understand a slow start, but it just takes way too long for stuff to really get firing. The Origami King has a slow start, but it's so much better in getting to the action and more interesting stuff a lot faster. It sadly feels like a game that doesn't respect your time. I don't know if I'll finish this game as patience isn't my strong suit. I wanted to love this game, but anytime I think of going back to it, I cringe at having to sit through a game that kinda feels like a chore to just get to those high highs.
