But these are 2D sprites, there's a few 3d models but even the backgrounds are flat images this time. Just because they don't have the black outlines doesn't mean that everything is a 3d model. Most of the characters in Dream Team & Paper Jam were sprites too.

These ARE 2D sprites. Actually, this game is more 2D than Dream Team and Paper Jam, as many of the backgrounds aren’t 3D animated. That’s probably why only have this game playable in 2D.
