Carl if you struggle with encoding don't hesitate to compile it in RAW and use external software to encode your RAW to your desired quality rather than using the editing software to directly compile it. A lot of tutorial on the web shows that for 30mn+ you actually save more time doing it.

aaaand with that I'm up to date on all of your mario maker videos... Man I wish I could erase my memory and go back and do it all again, if I could afford a WiiU I would make my own levels but that will proooobably never happen so I have to make do with watching, and you are by far the best provider of mario maker videos. There's a lot of good players, but some play mostly garbage levels, some skip too easily or never at all, and a whole lot of them just rage all the time, which isn't very relaxing to watch. Even when you get frustrated with a level, it's all in good fun, you're just super chill and remind me a lot of some of my best friends. Much love
@CarlSagan428 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, glad you enjoy the videos :D Yeah I don't understand why people play games if they aren't having fun xD

CarlSagan42 Thanks for the response, I won't even dignify the troll with a response, but yeah I agree, that's literally what I tell friends when they rage at games, LoL, Herathstone, CS:GO, if it makes you that angry, it can't be fun surely, why not do something else, yknow... I'd like to tune into your livestreams, but I don't tend to watch streams as I like my content on demand, and also the time zone difference, but I love how your videos are edited to show just the right amount of deaths:progress. I also like the longer videos, but they're more of a commitment for when I know I don't have to be anywhere. I think my mate will be getting mario maker soon (after I showed him a couple of your videos XD ), so hopefully I can go round enough to make some decent levels. I will probably suck ass at the kaizo stuff, but who knows, I would love to submit a level to the blind race one day. Probably try my hand at making puzzle levels too, I am quite happy with my portal 2 puzzle designs, but I think I would mostly like to make plain old platforming levels, combining the elements in such a way as to create interesting new mechanics, have got a lot of inspiration from watching some of the more creative levels in your videos, can't wait to play. Peace! =D

for the level at 37:00 wouldn't it be plausible to throw the pow so it hits in the handful of frames where the koppa transfers from where it starts to the platform just below it on its way towards the blue platform?
@ivaldi138 жыл бұрын
Question for Hot Sauce Fishin' Cheeps: What's in that block on the left? To open it, can you wear a shellmet, use a door to get another, bounce it on your head as you climb the left vine, slide into that alcove in the upper-left corner, catch the formerly bouncing shell, drop, and kick it left as you pass the block?
@with157 жыл бұрын
On the map 'Room: Motivation Station'' by Gueston. You can save some time when you need to kill the black plant with the POW without killing the koopa The trick is = use the POW when the koopa fall off the little gap before the blue skulls That's a pretty close window but i'm sure you can do it ;)

All carl had to do for the puzzle at 35:00 was put the pow on that lower level, kick the koopa shell and bam done. The koopa doesnt die if its moving when it itself hits the POW block
@CarlSagan428 жыл бұрын
I think it does actually kill the shell, but only if the shell is on the ground. So, your setup would work, because the shell will go over the ledge and be in the air for a little bit. If it hits the POW during that time, it'll work.

46:39 hey carl, why didnt you use the p switch door? or was that harder to get
@CarlSagan428 жыл бұрын
You still have to hit the bottom POW I believe, so it's a shorter path to the right door than left to the p-door once you're on top of the level. The level might end faster hitting the p-door though actually, since you do have to wait a sec when you use the bottom one. Maybe it could be faster.

+CarlSagan42 Going through Unix on a Mac terminal, we load PyRAF and ds9 to look at telescope images of star clusters in various wavelength filters. We can pick out coordinates for certain stars we're interested in and run a photometric analysis on them, which gives us a bunch of info about intensity/brightness etc. Our professor already did a bunch of the image processing and corrections beforehand. Not as real-world relevant as other things but it's been holding my interest for a while which is good :)

Yes, I do see another, probably faster, way to solve “Room: Motivation Station”. (At 37:23, you ask for a faster strategy than the one you used.) Simply throw the POW block the same moment the Red Koopa falls off that one-block high ledge. That will allow the Koopa to survive while killing the Muncher blocking the way to the blocks on the right. The POW should hit a surface in the instant while the Koopa is in the air. It probably takes good timing, but should be doable. I think it would be faster than your WR strat too. You almost hit on this method at 31:45 when you said “YOLO strats” , but you forgot about it afterwards for some reason.
@CarlSagan428 жыл бұрын
Ahh that should work! But I don't see how it would save time, since the Koopa frees the POW block and hits it basically at the same time using the WR strat.
@roryookane8 жыл бұрын
Sorry, you’re right - it wouldn’t save time. I lost track of when the POW block becomes reachable.

The level you got the world record on at 47:18 can you try going in the p-switch door at the top of the screen to maybe make it faster. Mostly because when you go through a door the flag spawns at the top of the goalposts and that's where the p-switch door is
@poffpoff18 жыл бұрын
Couldn't you have skipped the spring completely and put the POW at such distance from the ledge that the shell hit it in mid air (in between the shell-spawn level and the blue-platform level)... About where you put the spring for it to bounce... ? Or would that be to tight for the shell to count as midair?
