This has gotta be the most nostalgic theme in all of Mario Party for me. We didn’t even play this board much, we always went with Goomba’s Greedy Gala. Whenever I listen to this, I think back to simpler times. I may be happier nowadays with so many different things in my life, but days from years past will always be special to me. Listening to this is my way back there for a few short minutes while also feeling like I’m in a whole different world of my own.

I remember getting this game for my 10th birthday. The game released in America a few weeks prior, and I can remember being really excited for it. I loved how the game was birthday-themed in its story mode, and how impressive the graphics were compared to Mario Party 3. I can also recall going to school and talking about the game with my friends; we never got to actually play it together, but I played the game a lot regardless. I think that I cleared story mode on 3 or 4 of the characters. As of the writing of this comment, I'm 30 years old. I have adult responsibilities, worries, and life certainly hasn't gone the way that I had hoped as a child, but this song reminds me of being that starry-eyed 4th grader without a care in the world. It's really bittersweet.

Hi! I'm 30 too now- I feel the exact same way. Its incredible how beautiful the game was designed and held up in terms of graphics (asides for maybe the board designs). The birthday themed single-player story campaign stands out and felt like it added a lot to the charm of the game, especially with how it added more personality to the characters during that era when everything was coded specifically. Its the little things- I never got to play Mario 64 so the Bowser battle felt like the closest thing to what the Gamecube could do to pay homeage to that title. To this day, I wish there was a game that encouraged capturing that same amount of "specialness" that Mario Party 4 delivered. The developers really exceeded in making sure that the game feels just like a warm celebration.

Today Charles Martinet announced his retirement from voicing Mario. Mario Party 4 has a special place in my heart. In June 2003, we went to Ocean City Maryland. My cousin Johnathan came with us. And he showed us the GameCube and the two games we played were Mario Party 4 and Super Smash Bros Melee. Both were great games. After we returned home I told my mom I want to get that GameCube. Thank you Johnathan for showing me the GameCube and thank you Charles for making my childhood great.

There's something about this specific tune, the swing and middling notes that really embodies the early 2000s. The Gamecube was such an amazing console when I was growing up. I didn't have one myself, but my uncle did, and whenever the family would get together at his place, we'd play Mario Party, and I would absolutely love playing on this board. Mario Party 4 will always have a special place in my heart, being one of my favorite games as a kid and one of the few I was proud to say I 100%. I just imagined that if they did another Superstars, it would be dedicated to the GameCube games which are Mario Party 4-7 just as the current Superstars is dedicated to N64 games (1-3). 2nd, I would mostly categorize Mario Party 8 with 9 and 10 since those were Wii/U games and were mostly dedicated to motion controlled minigames.

I remember when my mom told me if I got a B on my report card, she’d buy me a game. I got a B+ and she went with me to the game store. I picked this game and I loved it. I still remember opening it brand new. Taking out the shrink wrap and feeling the smooth plastic from the game case. Then opening the game case and taking the disc out. The first time you take the game out of the case with brand new games was always the hardest. I would always be careful because I didn’t want to break the disc. I miss those times. I miss manuals too. Some manuals were very creative like the DK64 manual and Pokémon Red Blue manual. Good times. 😇

This game was released at a really low point in my life (dealing with a sexist 5th grade teacher...), and MP4 was there for me during those dark days. I don't know what it is about this song specifically, but it brings the same teary-eyed nostalgic feelings to me as it did for most people I'm the comments section apparently. I always, and I mean ALWAYS get teary at 0:26!

K, so I just played the solo mode of Mario Party 4; and my second last board to play was: Toad’s Midway Madness. There’s a merry go round at the start of the board; and it switches the two paths that’s connected to the ride. The left sends you to the rest of the board, while the right takes you to a path that leads you straight back to the beginning. I was sadly one of the unlucky ones that got the right path multiple of times; and some of the players would even lap me while I’m stuck with three pink mushrooms. You normally get pink mushrooms from either mushroom spaces or item shops; but there was no item shop from where I was. Whenever somebody lands on a mushroom space in Mario Party 4, RNG will decide whether you get a big mushroom or a small mushroom. I wanted a big mushroom so I could not only move faster towards the merry go round, but also hope to squash at least one other player to gain some of their money; and yet the game still toyed with me. You can only move 5 spaces with a mushroom space; so I didn’t bother to use any of them if I can just roll my normal 1-10 dice block. Oh, and the dice blocks are also RNG; so it’s not my fault that I was always stuck on the darn right path. Here’s something that I was stressing about during this torture; all three of the other players were landing on happening spaces; and you need to land on the most happening spaces in this game so you can gain a bonus star at the end of the party. I know what your thinking; and yes, no happening spaces were on the right……….. The only thing that kept me going was the mini game star and coin star. If I win the most mini games and earn the most coins; I *might* win the board. I was doing great at both of these tasks; and it’s funny since you don’t get as much RNG in those two events. At one turn however, Yoshi got a Crystal Ball; and used it on my coins when the next turn came. Crystal balls can steal other players coins or stars; but no one had any stars at that time, so I was the main enemy……. When the last 5 turns came; Mario changed the Star’s 20 coin price to 0. So now all these other cared players can easily grab more money than me without worrying about paying for the star. What’s worse was that Yoshi landed on a special blue space that gave him a FREE star. Everybody was getting stars except for me and Mario. Mario was about to lap me; so I was getting anxious. I don’t want to go at the right again! However, my dice block actually gave me enough numbers to make it to the merry go round; and I was finally at the left path. You think the game is finally being nice to me; but your wrong. When Waluigi got the next free star; ANOTHER STAR MOVED TO THE RIGHT PATH AND MARIO GOT IT!!!!!!! For once I leave; and it bites me right back in the butt!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last turn was right after that; nobody was near me. There’s no point in getting a better item when it’s the last turn; and the other players landed on more happening spaces than I could ever get now: one. I then saw Mario’s coin counter; and my hope soon sparked again. My coins were closed to his; and I know I won the mini game star. I don’t remember the last minigame; but I won it! I got 2 stars baby; and now came the all deciding factor. Guess what, I still lost! Yep, because of RNG; I didn’t get any happening spaces, while Yoshi got more than the other two players. Also, RNG gave Yoshi another star for FREE. I flippen could have won this game if it wasn’t being an @$shole. I’m done; I wasted an hour and a half of my sleep to win this :|

Ah yes, Mario Party 3 and 4 are both my absolute favorite Mario Party games. I always loved both Mario Party 3 and 4, they both had great minigames and music, and the music for Mario Party 3 and 4 both sounded like the music from Thomas The Tank Engine. I also really love ❤ Thomas The Tank Engine, Thomas The Tank Engine will always be my all time favorite childhood show, and Ringo Starr along with the late great George Carlin were both the absolute best narrators for Thomas The Tank Engine.
