You know what I thought it was? That since (I assume) the global point counter won't go higher than 9999 then getting 1000 in every game is a waste in some sense. So, to save a frame or so, TAS didn't do Get The Lead Out perfectly, but almost so that it got 999 there so that the game finished earlier.

Since numbers are coded in binary and the Result Screen just shows a number not like some extra 4-digit-screen I think its unlikely. More likely Nintendo didn't care to make it possible because humans can't reach these scores anyway.

frickin same. i loved this game and mastered the entire game. i could always beat the CPU at the game (maybe it was because i had them on normal and gave myself a 3 star lead in the custom options of a normal party mode XD) but for real, i love this game. the only thing was i ended up breaking my L & R buttons so i was crippled on some minigames. its also the reason i had to borrow a friend's DS to beat bowser's inside story and a few other games i can't remember

For Get the Lead Out, can't you use pause buffering to get a higher score? Due to the way TASes work, if you put an A input two frames in a row, it'll count it as holding the A button. But if you press A and pause on the same frame, then on the next frame you unpause and press A, then pause again and press A, then unpause and so on, it'll count it as more A presses, and so you'll get a higher score. ...I've been watching way too much Pannenkoek...

The lowest score I could get was 11 points. Whomp-a-thon is the only minigame where you cannot get a score of 0 points (since you can't die at 0:00.00). For all the other minigames, you just have to do absolutely nothing.
