That was the Yoshi's Island sprite in the Yoshi mini game. Also seeing the e-reader back in action was awesome. I wonder if Mario Party-e would work better if the device was in the Game Boy Player because seeing the action on a tiny screen wouldn't be as party-like if you get my drift.
