Let’s be honest, this is actually scary. It doesn’t overdo a bloody background or anything, the catchphrase is fucking scary as shit, the design is good enough to be scary, and it all hits differently than other .EXE games, considering this is basically Lord X but fat. It’s literally a scarier Mario.EXE, just like Lord X is a scarier Sonic.EXE. It’s really well done.

I see Lord X as a more cunning .EXE due to his voice and design, where he plays mind games, taunting you upon defeat. MX (apparently that's his canon name) is more of the brutish one, considering he destroys everything in the level just trying to get to you.

@@fishstickfailur3 Definitely, MX is the most brutish character we’ve got from the .EXE game family, and Lord X is cunning, but they could both definitely tear the environment apart, kinda like MX does in the chase, it’s just that Lord X puts a quarter of thought into it.

Lucas is the main protagonist of Mario 85. His soul got trapped in the cursed cartridge and has to escape this giant beast known as MX in order to make it out alive. When you first meet MX, his catchphrase is shown on screen before he kills one of the toads by throwing him into the (now destroyed) flagpole.

I believe in terms of lore, Lucas is the character playing the game who got sucked into it and is now being chased by MX, who is a soul sucking monster. Luca’s is taking over the sprite of Luigi and likewise, the monster seems to have taken the sprite of Mario. That’s what I know of so far, there could be more things to it.
