Somehow this video has been found by people again, so I've added instructions to download the mod in the description (I meant to do that a long time ago, but I forgot...). The ruins are unchanged, so if you want to skip to the sans encounter, please load a save file from the end of the ruins. Note that save files from after the ruins will NOT WORK (can't have you cheat by bypassing sans with a later save!) Have fun trying to beat anti-piracy sans! (Spoiler alert: you can't.)

by the way, the battle with Sans is almost not official, because only at level 19 Sans has enough karma power to "poison" us. Therefore, if the level is 18 or less, sans will deal only 1 damage in 5 seconds. But it's nothing terrible)

A lot of games have antipiracy screens, but usually they aren't creepy or anything. Some have nuisance features that cause crashes or bugs. Earthbound jacks up the encounter rate and even has monsters spawn in nonhostile areas. If you manage to power through it, it culminates in the game freezing up and wiping your save data at the final battle.

This is an interesting idea, but some people would be interested in this as unique content. The only way to make it truly a punishment, is if honest player ls could genuinely access it optionally through the legitimate copy if they wanted to. This way, pirates would be stuck with it, while genuine buyers could see it as an easter egg - like with hardmode. For example, by using the name "pirate" (whether uppercase or lowercase). Upon doing so, Flowey could remind you when leaving the Ruins that you actually do have a genuine copy, and from this point on, you're just simulating what the pirates would see. After death, maybe Flowey pops up to ask, "Howdy! You were curious what the pirates would see, huh? Want to keep going?" before continuing with the normal 'pirate' messages and Sans approach if answering "Yes." And then the gimmick to actually punish the pirate (real or easter-egg) is that Sans never gets tired, and always dodges, so it's just a genuinely unwinnable fight. No getting dunked on, no "falling asleep," just infinite missing attacks and dodging his attacks. Eventually, after he wins enough, he just immediately starts the fight, no more unique dialogue. The pirate doesn't get that respect. "Final" repeat dialogue idea: "h u m a n ." [handshake] "heheh. . . the old whoopee cushion in the hand trick." "it's always funny." ". . ." "that look on your face. . ." ". . ." "let's just get to the point." And then no in-battle dialogue from Sans. Just the narrator. Perfect monotony. An infinite Sisyphus cycle, with no more changes. If the player tries returning to the Ruins a second time, Sans blocks the way at the end of the long walk, and starts the fight immediately - no dialogue. If they try to reset and load (or for honest players, if they reset and load the "pirate" name), then it's just Chara's red dialogue saying: "Haha! No." And the they're right back where they were. Again, for the false pirate eater-egg on legitimate versions, Flowey would still ask if the player wants to continue. Maybe even tell when there's nothing new. "Howdy! Looks like you've reached the end of what the real pirates would face. Nothing new anymore! It's just repetitive purgatory now! Ya should probably play the game normally at this point, but I'll still ask: Do you want to keep going?"
