Can we just appreciate the fact that Rosalina is FINALLY in a story driven game which she hasn’t been in since Galaxy 2. Like if the Rabbis series can bring spin-off characters into the story like Rosalina, imagine who they can bring back for a third sequel or the DLC. Let’s pray that characters like Daisy or Waluigi can finally be in something that’s not just a party game.

Rosalina isn’t a spin-off character like Geno. Since she debuted in Galaxy, the Wii’s 3D Mario game unrelated to sports or anything other than platformers, she’s a canonical mainline character. Nintendo’s just stubborn as fuck going outside the tiresome Peach-is-abducted-by-Bowser plot line they reuse in every game that they rarely ever branch out into other plot lines or other characters that aren’t the main focus of the plot itself. It’s why we haven’t seen Daisy have a prominent role in the plot of any Mario games despite being around since the early 90s in a semi-mainline title.

Mario Galaxy 1, actually. Galaxy 2 wasn't story driven at all. Rosalina _IS_ there, and her having history with Lubba _IS_ hinted at, but there's absolutely no story beyond a galaxy-sized kidnapping. In fact, I think Mario Galaxy 1 is the only story driven Mario Game out there. (if you describe story-driven loosely.)

I'm glad it turned out Rosalina was protecting the Lumas and still managed to fight back against Cursa's possession (even if just for a moment) herself. I was a little concerned about how the game would handle her, and whilst I still wish she was playable instead, I'm glad she's still portrayed as the fearless, motherly, powerful figure she's supposed to be.

Even though this is a spin-off series, Can we just give an applause for how far Rosalina has come? She went from a child who tears up of being away from home or missing her own mom, and NOW in this present time, even while getting possessed by a life-draining cosmic entity, Rosalina does NOT fear Cursa, cause she loves her own lumas/family way more and relies that friends on Mario, Luig, and Peach will do something to stop Cursa from stealing life of the cosmos. God… I wasn’t expecting someone like Rosalina to ever get this much serious narrative attention ever again. Words cannot describe the feelings this evokes. It sounds silly in the context of something like Mario, but hear me out. _Super Mario Galaxy_ remains the only mainline Mario game to ever move me on an emotional level. The aesthetics and atmosphere were half of the reason why. The rest was Rosalina and the Lumas. Now we have this, and coupled with music by the same guy who scored the emotional rollercoasters that are the _Ori_ games… it’s a wave of nostalgia and empathy rolling in at full force. It’s only made more impactful if you know just what the Lumas _mean_ to Rosalina… I personally don’t want these characters to just exist to be used once in a main series game and then be cast aside in exclusive favor of karting, sports, and Smash. _Galaxy_ and the RPGs have proven the potential in narratives within Mario games. Fucking _Mario_ games. I’m grateful that this is here in _Sparks of Hope._

Je suis tellement heureuse que Ubisoft a vraiment respecté Rosalina / Harmonie… Je ne pensais pas pleurer pour un jeu Mario+Rabbids, mais je l’ai fait quand même. C’est magnifique et touchant aussi. On nous montre ici à quel point Harmonie est une mère exceptionnelle, j’ai rarement pu voir d’autres mamans dans les œuvres fictives être aussi dévouées qu’Harmonie l’est avec ses Lumas, ses enfants. Le personnage n’existerait pas si elle n’avait pas rencontré son premier Luma et dédié sa vie à recueillir et aimer les autres. C’est aussi adorable que triste lorsque l’on sait qu’elle doit voir chaque Luma quitter sa maison et juste lui sourire pour ne pas le rendre triste lors de son départ. Harmonie est un personnage qui souffre émotionnellement dans le lore de Galaxy, qui nous montre qu’elle tient bon grâce à ses Lumas qui sont sa lumière, alors lorsque la vie les lui retire je ne peux qu’imaginer sa douleur dont elle ne parle pas. Et ça, c’est sans compter le nombre de fois où ses petits se sont probablement sacrifiés comme à la fin du premier Galaxy, car ce n’était évidement pas la première ni la dernière fois avec tous les cycles. Et pourtant elle continue de vivre pour les Lumas. Elle a littéralement laissé derrière elle sa propre famille - son père et son frère, pour s’occuper des petits. C’est dire si ses enfant sont importants.
