There's no 2 Paulines there's only one Pauline. If there's 2, Nintendo would've said it anyway. Nintendo even officially confirm that Mario is Jumpman. Proof of this? Donkey Kong 94 for GameBoy(The game I mention) prove this. Mario and Pauline have their modernized designs in Donkey Kong 94 and that's a remake of the Donkey Kong Arcade game. Early Donkey Kong(Young Cranky) and Donkey Kong Jr are in Donkey Kong 94. So it's a fact that Mario is Jumpman and Pauline is Lady. There's no 2 Marios and there's no 2 Paulines.

It's like the Mr. Satan/Hercule situation from Dragon Ball Z. In Japanese his name has always been Mr. Satan. Dragon Ball Z was infamously and bizarrely censored and edited to be more child friendly when it was first being localized for the west so they changed his name to Hercule to remove the references to religion with having a character literally named Satan. Mario could very well have a savior complex and also not know how to handle himself when his significant other doesn't have an explicit need for him and just chooses to be with him. It's possible he feels more secure in a relationship when he is explicitly needed for her wellbeing, as well as feeling like he isn't good enough and/or inferior when he isn't actually needed, leading to him cutting off romantic relationships that don't put him in a hero position, preventing him from having healthy relationships. He might even still have feelings for Pauline (I am of the belief that if you can stay friends with a SO after a serious relationship then you are either still in love or never were) and simply chooses the relationship with Peach *because* she is routinely kidnapped by Bowser, rather than the kidnappings being as a result of her relationship with Mario

I've always assumed "Peach" is her first name and "Toadstool" is her surname. Thus, her full title/name would be "Princess Peach of House Toadstool". As to Pauline, I kind of think Pauline quit getting kidnapped by Donkey Kong, then Mario lost interest. Over time their relationship just faded away. When Peach started getting kidnapped, he and Peach started growing closer and closer with every rescue. Mario's got a hero complex and Peach just fulfills it better. Though current canon contradicts it, I like Game Theory's belief that Jumpman Mario and Pauline from Donkey Kong are the parents of the current Mario Bros. (Mario Mario and Luigi Mario).

The Donkey Kong of the original game is Cranky Kong in present day, and new DK is his grandson. The original Mario (Jump man) and Pauline are the Mario brothers' parents. There is a possibility that the new Pauline has been long time friends with the present DK and Mario (Miniland spinoffs) and that she may be a relative of the Mario brothers due to her being a brunette (original Pauline was a ginger or possibly blonde).
