I always liked the theory that the "real world" with the machines and Zion is just another layer of simulation. It's essentially a playground for the people who recognize they were in a simulation but keeps them too busy fighting machines to see the next layer. It fixes plot holes like generating electricity from humans and using powers in the "real world". The reason could be that humanity nuked the world and sealed themselves underground but the only way they can stay alive is by using minimal resources by creating a dream world.

I liked that as well. Have that twist and that the machines are not bad guys, they are caretakers of the humans while the earth recovered. The whole prophecy was part of the machines plan to prepare the humans for their return to earth.

The world was destroyed because humans didn't want to share the world with the machines that now can think and feel. After destroying everything the machines offered them the matrix as a way to live a good life while the machines don't have to deal with them. The machines use the brains of humans as processor power for the matrix and their own wants. The matrix was created for humans to be happy , first matrix was heaven and didn't work , second was a hellish world , third one was the 21st century but with vampires and shit and after that is the one we know. In every single one of those they had the second layer of the matrix just in case people realized they weren't in the places they lived but instead on the matrix , so Zion and the battery bullshit was born since the first matrix. All of this is the cartoon , really good btw

@@donaldwiggins9890 Just think about the energy that it takes to keep a human alive. You have to put that energy in and maybe you get to harvest body heat. It's going to be less than you put in because no energy is created out of nothing and some will be lost along the way. If it works they could also just put cows in the tubes and skip the matrix bit. What basement homie said above about using the brains for extra computing power makes way more sense than literally generating electricity.

Honestly my theory was always that "the real world" was just another layer of the Matrix. It makes so much sense, and half the wierd monologue with the creator in that TV room in the 2nd movie leads a lot of credence to it, such as how the machines have attempted several Matrix simulations before, how they redesigned it to compensate for humanity's innate need for imperfections and free will, how this entire scenario has happened before, and how any semblance of choice is ultimately an illusion, right before giving Neo a very binary "choice" of what to do next. From a story writing perspective, it makes sense that they'd hint that the Matrix isn't all that it seems before they showed Neo having powers in the real world, making you question everything just in time for the cliffhanger ending so you get hyped the sequel. Unfortunately, I think most people tuned out during that monologue and missed the ball. In canon, it also makes sense that if they've calculated for the variable of free will, they've calculated for those rogues and anomalies of human brains who inevitably break free from the original Matrix, by giving them the *illusion* of choice and a "real world" fighting against the machines that have enslaved them, which is also just another simulation. It also makes sense that Neo and his predecessors are still an anomoly to them because his subconscious doesn't fully accept Zion as "reality" either, hence why he can still manipulate it to a degree. Perhaps his brain is simply wired differently due to some biological condition that's harder to detect until adulthood, in the same vein as, say, ADHD for example. Hence why the machines, despite watching and controlling everything that goes on in the Matrix, can't just consistently remove Neo and his ilk early in life before they becomes a problem, since they don't always show the symptoms until a certain point and therefore aren't detected.

Originally the reason for humans to be part of the machines was for the processor that we humans have for free aka the brain. Not because of energy , and the matrix had 2 layers. The first one been inside the matrix and the second layer was the rebellion layer where Zion and the people that left the first layer are. That's why when neo sees the source code he can have powers on the real world. That's because the real world is the last layer of the matrix and just a simulation. But they thought it was way too complicated for normal people to understand so they kind of scratch the second layer of the matrix and changed the purpose of human from processors to batteries.

I always assumed NEO'S ability to stop the robots on the outside came from the technology that was embedded within him. I figured that the people that had been rescued from The Matrix still had a connection to the Matrix through that technology. Even though there's a direct connection it seemed more than likely that there was some sort of a radio connection as well. Neo just found a way to utilize that connection in a way that was never meant to be used. I think this comes from him actually being a partial construct of The Matrix in order to balance the equation. Well that's just my two cents about it.

Neo once he lost his eyesight he connected to the machine network that all machines are connected to share info and cordinate attacks with. Since he was the one and has access to matrix code inside himself, he was able see the world as the machines do (once he lost his human eyesight). His mind connected via the implants that are still present in him. So he was using the machines network against them in the real world. But he still has to be plugged back into the matrix to particapte in it. (Matrix online has bits about the machines experminting to create a new generation of crops that could wireless interface with machine. And Neo since he was the one became one of the first and Trinity was a secondary expirement for control of the one) Remember Neo was potentianal the one, there were other that the orcale was looking at, he needed something to force him to accept and access his machine abilities *hence the line maybe in another life*

That was my theory. I couldn't think of anything(including the tedious "It's another layer of the Matrix!") that isn't really stupid. He was able to 'wirelessly jack in' to the machine network without know how, ergo he landed at the train station which is 'limbo.' And that seems to be what the Wiki says, that he's 'connected to the Source,' that's the Machine mainframe network. So what's stupid about that? Can you tell I haven't watched the video yet.

Or... he NEVER LEFT THE MATRIX Oracle hints he is a program, Merovingian tells him programs are sentient and interchangeable with humanity (in too many words), Architect TELLS HIM he is a program (in too many words), the mayor of Zion tells him the machines and humans NEED each other to survive, and Smith transitioning to the 'real' world shows that they are still in some layer of he Matrix. The Matrix (and Zion) have been destroyed and rebuilt many times, caught in the cycle of death and rebirth. From the first movie, the initial version of the Matrix was paradise, and people could not accept it. So they rebuilt it to more closely reflect reality. But... why? Why bother? Even if we accept the stupid of using mankind as a power source (as opposed to neural net in early drafts), why bother with a Matrix at all? Leave the populace in comas or personal dream worlds. If we view the movies as the story from Neo's perspective... why should we believe it at all? What if I told you: The machines are trying to SAVE humanity. Morpheus told Neo that humanity 'scorched the sky.' That would destroy the food supply, cause health issues with lack of sunlight, and just be a literal nightmare to live in. After mass starvation, wars, and destruction of infrastructure, the Matrix might be an escape needed for humanity to survive at all. Put all of the survivors into a low energy state (sleep), feed them directly with manufactured nutrients, and give them an artificial world to live in. Oops... that was too nice... remake a bit grittier. It runs for a while, then some people are born immune to the reality, and twig to its artificial nature. Give them a sub-Matrix to occupy, prove their paranoia was real and justified, let them fight with cheats on away from the populace at large. When they reach endgame, reset the sub-Matrix. Here is what SHOULD have happened - Neo should have had the greatest revelation, what the Architect and the Mayor basically told him: Humanity... can no longer exist outside the Matrix. If you never see light at birth, your eyes will not develop right... then may evolve to not see at all. If your lungs never experience air... they will not develop right... then maybe evolve not to at all. If you do not move, it is not atrophied muscles, but undeveloped ones. A mass of tissue with tendons and ligaments that are tight bundles under a fat layer that becomes tough silver-skin. Hearing, outer skin layers, gut bacteria, immune system, and so on, all rely on being in the world to develop. After however long, mankind born into the Matrix are blind, deaf, liquid breathing masses of tissue with bones that have joints that have never moved. They are brains in jars; fleshy, bone encased jars. And machines are doing their best, within the limits of their capacity, or established parameters, to keep humanity alive until the world can support them again outside... and mankind slowly evolving to no longer be ABLE to live outside.

At the end of The Matrix 2 when Neo stops the incoming sentinels with his hand, I had a theory that sort of explained why it worked. Because the machines run the Matrix, all of Neo's abilities would have to be programmed into the Matrix or the machines have some kind of understanding of Neo's abilities based on past versions of the Matrix. When Neo tries to use his ability to stop projectiles on the machines, it only worked because the sentinels' programming told them Neo had that ability; meaning they basically committed suicide when they reached Neo's stopping wall. Of course this idea fell apart in the third Matrix when Neo can literally see in Matrix vision.

Neo's code contains an anomalous program which is inherent to the programming of the Matrix itself, that repeatedly shows up as an integral anomaly within each iteration of the Matrix due to the imperfections required by human minds to accept the simulation. There was no "One" in the first ever Matrix because as stated by the Architect.. "The first matrix I designed was quite naturally perfect, it was a work of art, flawless, sublime. A triumph equaled only by its monumental failure. The inevitability of its doom is as apparent to me now as a consequence of the imperfection inherent in every human being, thus I redesigned it based on your history to more accurately reflect the varying grotesqueries of your nature. However, I was again frustrated by failure." Once the Architect changed his perfect mathematical equation of the first matrix to allow imperfections for the humans acceptance, Neo's code was created as a result, as the Architect states.. "You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision." I think maybe this connection to the matrix via his code and the code being required by The Source is the reason for is "WiFi" capabilities in the "Real World".

Neo having Wi-Fi is the only way it can work. The Matrix within a Matrix theory sounds cool at first. But if you actually think about it you realize that if it's true then it makes the plot of the entire trilogy pointless. The entire story revolves around the choice to accept or reject The Matrix and the only reason why that choice exists at all is because people subconsciously know they are in a simulation. It's like the uncanny valley effect. Everybody knows it's not real but some people can look past that while with others it completely breaks their immersion. The same problem applies to The Matrix and it's not something that can be solved by just moving people to another Matrix.

@@cddll24 But my point is how would that trick anyone? Red Pills literally feel that something is wrong with the world. They can't explain why something is wrong only that there is. They know from the depths of their soul that this world is not real. How would a change of scenery fix that? The fundamental problem is still there. They are trapped in a world that is not real and they can FEEL it. Just swapping one simulation to another won't change that. And in the universe of The Matrix the machines have tired that several times. There were two simulations prior to the current one and they both failed. The current simulation almost failed until The Oracle gave people the option to flee to the real world. And the only reason why the machines want to wipe Zion out in the first place is because since it's the real world humans can now breed and naturally increase their numbers eventually making them a threat. But if they were trapped in yet another simulation then why does that fact even matter? Like I said the more you think about it the more everything falls apart. The narrative of The Matrix only works if Zion is in the real world.

Neo is also part machine, technically, since he's part program. If he could manipulate wifi or other frequencies that the robots use to stay connected to the mainframe, since they're all computers, it makes sense that he could manipulate the robots in the real world that way as well. He's basically an advanced form of an evolved computer.

I might have been Neo! When I was 13, I used to to love the song, "When the Bullet Hits the Bone" by Golden Earring. One day, I was playing Atari, and I thought to myself, I should turn on the radio because it might be playing. Started off right at the beginning of the song. From then on, I would get a mental ping, I'd rush to the radio, and the song would just be kicking off. Happened like 20-30 times, maybe more. One time I got the ping, and it wasn't playing. I switched stations and it was on the other station. One time I was in class, I got the ping, and was like "Awww". I never got any more pings in class. So, Neo having Wifi isn't so far of a stretch for me.

Good thing the theater was empty because we lost it when they punch them off eachother in the third movie. The matrix was actually the first rated r movie I was ever allowed to watch. My theory is that Neo is basically Electro and has electric powers in the "Real World" That's why he can create an EMP to disable the squids and it explains why he's able to do what he can in the Matrix. Essentially he could use his electric powers as a binary input when he's connected, to hack the Matrix and do what he wants in the simulation.

Actually, the wi-fi thing could actually be an interesting plot point in and of itself. Perhaps it was something that was physically implanted into him at the same time as Smith put the tracker into Neo in the first movie. Just that without the implanted control of the thing there that the team removed, there was still a connection, but one that didn't actually get tracked the way it was supposed to. Hell, it would have been awesome to have that as a scene leading up to the out of the matrix stunt there, perhaps even being used to explain that the Nebuchadnezzar was found as quickly by the machines...

There's an old video from Movie Theories about the Matrix with an interesting take on things. Where when they speak of "the one", the people who actually understand the prophesy never allude to Neo, but Agent Smith. Morpheus only believes that Neo is the one. whether or not this is what was originally intended is a whole debate in itself, but I really like this idea. After all, the old lady that appraises Neo starts by saying that he is not "the one". Whether or not those were her true thoughts is nebulous at best. Just thinking about it through the lense of Agent Smith being the chosen one is hilarious and I love it. XD Anyway, it was a good video.

I like the idea that there are not only several matrixes but also layers to them. Honestly, the best theory I've heard about the green Matrix / blue Matrix stuff is that the Matrix was created by the humans to trick the AI into thinking it had won. Meaning there are no humans in either Matrix, just programs. Probably running on a server in some dingy break room in Silicon Valley.

I have a pretty good idea of why Neo wasn't always flying and shit to be OP. It goes back to the first fight in the matrix reloaded when he's fighting the agents and he goes, "updates" or something along those lines. So my idea is, that Neo was constantly holding back in order to closely monitor how powerful (in comparison) they had truly become. It's just a theory, but it would make sense considering the oracles overly ambiguous words about how he would do whatever "when the time comes".

Morpheus doesnt say they are "technichly" an Enemy, he says they "are" an Enemy, because Agents are capable of hijacking any Hostconciousness that is still plugged into the Matrix on the AI-Side. You can actually see it happening several times in the movie. So the decision to kill the people while they are not hijacked yet is basicly preventing them from turning into a significantly harder to overcome Obstacle, i.e. an Agent. Incapacitating wouldn't really help in in-Universe-logic, since an agent still can just hijack the Body and just get up. Morpheus quote about everyone being an enemy is not a metaphor, but actually literal.

Another possible explanation... Neo was literally made by the machines to do a job, and that the Oracle, who was mostly in charge of that had her own ideas regarding the role of The One. I thought his powers in the real world were him overloading the Sentinels. The statement by Morpheus "anyone in the matrix is a potential enemy" is referring to them being taken over by an agent for proxy at any moment. The evidence is in every incident that an agent takes over civilians. examples are in the building during Neos escape or when fighting the agents on the rooftops and they take over the helicopter. That's why he says that. Additionally once Neo makes it known for the people in the matrix, they're given a choice. Now whether the options are equal or great, the ones that still chose to stay willfully stayed and in turn can be taken over. So if anything, once he made it aware to them and they did chose a side.
