On figure skating, you have to wave your arms to keep in line with the music notes. So, don't just wave your arms like a crazy person. But, hey, you still got first place! Also, any reason you aren't doing the second events in figure skating, speed skating, freestyle skiing, snowboard, and bobsleigh? They are different, so I think you should do them. And besides, you'll get to play as more characters.

If you play one of the team events (Figure Skating pairs, Bobsleigh, Ice Hockey, Curling and a few of the Dream Events), certain characters will interact with each other on the winners podium if they're P1 and P2. For example, I've seen Mario and P1 and Yoshi as P2, and Mario jumped on Yoshi's back. I don't know exactly which characters interact, but I figure it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out the likeliest ones.

17:42 um... I don't think you're supposed to do it like a chicken. wave it calmly to the wavelength of the musical notes

I don't know if anyone told you yet or not but I think that when you wave, it looks like you have to keep your arms in line with the musical notes that show up. That's what I'm guessing. Also, pay close attention to the audience when your score is announced. It almost sounds like they're trying to yell the character's name. I don't know if it's true but I can almost hear it.
