Mario Sports Mix - NEW Gameplay + Final Fantasy Characters

Who wants to play as Rosalina, Lubba or other Mario characters when we now have slutty pink ninja girl and cactus guy. Life is good.

Mario Sports Mix sure has a a tough act to follow, seeing how it's the first Mario game since Super Mario Galaxy 2, which I consider the best Mario game released in the last 14 years.

I am not so surprised about the FF characters, cause they did the same for mario basket ( wich was an awesome game ). I agree that Rosalina, Dry Bones, Boo etc would have deserved more to be there, but there are so few FF guys that I would like to not care much about them. The specials look awesome btw.

At least the Final Fantasy characters aren't broken and cheap like they were in Mario Hoops 3-on-3. I guess the Final Fantasy characters aren't all that bad once you get use to them. I absolutely love White Mage ^_^.

@WiiFolderJosh Because in this particular case, the slime is 1. a crossover character and 2. square isn't trying to shoehorn multiple versions of the same character (blue slime, green slime, etc) while in nintendo's case they'll add 2 or 3 versions of the same character (a.k.a. the koopa troopa) Just look at the other spinoffs as examples like say the mario kart games.

@WiiFolderJosh I admit that unlockable Mario characters would be more appropriate than Final Fantasy ones, but I wouldn't say that constitutes taking the focus off of Mario. It's still a Mario-centric game, just with some Square-related bonuses.

Best sports game I ever played. I just wished they had chosen a better character than Slime or Moogle. Cactuar is fine because he's Mario-esqe, but those other two aren't. They shoulda had Shy Guy or Paratroopa or Boo.

@waluigithecool Square Enix developed this game, like Super Mario RPG (Geno?) and Hoops 3 on 3, it explains why they're characters are the unlockables. I'm guessing Square Enix thought that Nintendo would just get all the credit, so Nintendo proposed that the unlockable characters are Square Enix characters (Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest) so SE feel more attached to the game.

@IxisNaugus Well, this game is developed by Square Enix, so it makes sense for Final Fantasy characters to make guest appearances. Having been already done with Mario Hoops 3-on-3, which was also made by SE. Although, I do agree the absence of many fan favorites is disappointing, it doesn't hurt to give the FF characters a try. And calling the White Mage a slutty pink ninja is SO not cool. I enjoy how she plays in Hoops 3-on-3
