Bellissimo..... Bellisima sinfonia ...come tutte le latre e tutte le altre comosizioni. ...........sono pochi anni che sto ascoltando tutto il sinfonismo di H. Villa Lobos................. lo sto scroprendo solo ora............io che ho 56 anni ...............dopo una vita di musica...............vorrei averlo scoperto prima, ed aver suonato piu opere di Villa Lobos.......ho avuto il piacere di suonare solament la Bachianas Brasileira nr. 4 diretta da H. De Carvaio nel 1987...................

I think that the most interesting orchestral works of Villa-Lobos are his "choros" for orchestra. The form of the symphony, even when manipulated with an extreme freedom, presents some constraints that must be fulfilled to make a successful and well balanced work. But Villa Lobos knows perfectly how to deal with these constraints; all his symphonies, and especially this one, are excellent. Here, all the symphony is absolutely outstanding, but as told by another commentator, the second movement is probably the highrst point of the work. From a parsonal point of view, when I was a teenager ( a long, long timle ago), I had a record with some 'Bachianas Brasilieras (including of course the very famous one with female voice and cellos, and also I rmeber one for flute and bassoon), but I relaized the great genius of Villa Lobos when heraing one evening this symphony on the 'France Musique' radio channel - a radio channel which, in my modest opinion, has become to-day a great light in the Westren cultural decadence.
