The Wikipedia article on Kodaly lists his compositions, but fails to include this one. I don't understand.

I believe that on the Wikipedia page in English, this work appears in the list of orchestral works as "Symphony in memoriam Toscanini (1961)". Despite the title and the date, I read that this work was prepared in successive stages over a very long period, and even though it was dedicated to Toscanini's memory, this dedication does not normally appear in the symphony title. On the Spanish Wikipedia page it appears at the end of the composer's list of orchestral works, simply as "Sinfonía", dated the same year 1961. On the Hungarian page it appears at the end of the same list, as "Szimfónia", but it is dated from approximately 1930 to 1961. In a book that talked about Kodály's orchestral works, they said that this work did not impose itself on the repertoire, which is easily attested even by the relatively limited number of recordings. In my humble opinion this is an injustice, because it seems to me to be a beautiful and memorable work. On my channel there is a more recent interpretation and recording than this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2nOZqF9aJhqo6c
