Broken rainbow road is one of the greatest custom track i've ever seen when you escape from the road at the end and you realize that this place that looked like space was in fact a studio where we take place all the rainbow races .. it's so smart and it corresponds so much to the lore hidden in the series where all the characters have their own company and so it seems almost logical that in fact all this is wrong! really mind blowing lmao

Oh wow, mine is on here. That one was really meant as more of a tech demo. It was made by entering coordinates manually, hence the lack of any curves! The starry texture didn't turn out so well; I didn't try it on enough different screens to make sure it was the right brightness. It _almost_ works on a real N64, even though I had no way to test that until years later. The only catch is, it's invisible... The original song was meant to actually play in-game, but I never did implement that. It's cool that you were able to replace it while keeping the sound effects. (I don't know what I was thinking putting that song in, lol) Fun fact: because of the lyrics display I added for no real reason, the game will crash if you take more than a year to finish.

Rainbow road DX is a masterpiece, why didn’t Nintendo think of putting bits of every rainbow road into one huge course, and have the music be a medley of all the rainbow road themes, each part playing when you pass through its respective section of track. 20/10 amazing track

It’s cool but it doesn’t feel connected it feels like they just glued parts of rainbow roads together there’s no good transition between them and at that point why make it on a ds with not a good power level than other consoles

Pretty sure that every official Rainbow Road (and the most well-known unofficial ones) will have multiple iterations in every Mario Kart (except maybe SMK and Super Circuit, they seem hard to mod and to not work well with 3D stuff) at some point, if we're not already there.

The lyrics above the Starlight track (the first custom MK64 track) are for the eurobeat song "My Only Star" which was actually used in one of the videos made by the creator. It never was implemented in-game but the lyrics are still there as if it was lol And the comment shows edited because me dumb and didn't get to read halfway where it is mentioned that they were for that song...but using it gets you claimed by KZbin. So yeah.

Now that I think about it, I'm disappointed that MK8 Rainbow Road did nothing new. Every game has done something new. SNES had it as the hardest track N64 had the chain chomp and of course overlapping parts because it was the first 3D Mario Kart GBA had bumping lines on the edges and even an intended shortcut NGC had the rainbow tunnel and more sharp turns in order to accommodate for the driving mechanics of the game NDS had the loop and corkscrew Wii had the ramps to do tricks in the air and a waving section as something unique to the track 3DS did use the glider and had some unique stuff going on like the rotating tunnel Then we get Wii U and what do we get? MKWii's Toad Factory's moving tracks Yeah, we get the glider, but that's not a new feature, and yes, the anti gravity does turn on but, as we see in this video as it was recreated for Mario Kart Wii without losing anything, it's pretty useless and unneeded in this track. Other tracks made better use of the anti gravity, like bowser's castle, the haunted mansion or electrodome. I didn't exactly know why I was disappointed by yhis track until I saw it being recreated almost 1:1 for MKWii. All they had to do is change the gliding (3DS) sections

Haha! I'm sorry if I wasn't clear on this, but the lyrics aren't to the Pokemon Snap song, but the creator of the track included a song that will play in game (with lyrics). The song that the creator used is actually copyright claimed on KZbin. I decided to put in the Pokemon Snap music because I thought It fits the theme. o;

I wish the official tracks of mario kart 8 used anti gravity in ways like Broken Rainbow Road does. The normal game doesn’t do a good job of selling to the player that they’re doing something they couldn’t without it. I think it’s largely because transitions are too gradual. The first optional anti gravity section at the start is really cool because it twists so quickly
