N64 gameplay of Bomberman 64.
Bomberman 64 is a 3D,4 Player,Platform game.I actuallly consider this game to be a 'worth playing',even though it's underated.
*On Adventure Mode,a being called Altair,along with his 3 most trusted minions,has stolen the Omni Cube,it possesses the power to take over the universe.While he has already striken multiple Planets,Altair sets his next target as Planet Bomber. While Altair attacks,Bomberman is concerned of saving his planet and meets a strange being with the name of Sirius.Sirius is willing to help Bomberman so that he can defeat Altair and save his planet...or is he?

Honestly, Sirius is probably one of my favorite characters that pulled of the "betrayal card", because his design and personality really worked in misleading you to a point where you'd never expect him to completely trick and backstab you all together for his own intentions with Altair who is considerably the lesser evil in this scenario and he used you as a weapon to dominate his rivalry. His dialogue or the rest of the story may not hold up, but his betrayal sure as hell did and still left an impact on me even now.

The only other similar vidya character that has this sort of grudging admiration from me is Darth Traya from star wars KOTOR 2. I believe this is a trope called "true antagonist under your nose the whole time" (something like that)--and yes they almost all invariably, inevitably betray you. Sirius is similar, though Darth Traya still creeps me the fuck out.

It’s one of the few instances of betrayal that I never, ever anticipated or even considered possible in storytelling or otherwise. Yeah, the narrative of the game is nothing to marvel at but Sirius’s betrayal was actually done really well. He’s absent, never does much of anything except be helpful, and then out of nowhere his palace (something which was never alluded to) becomes accessible after the player gathers all the gold cards which makes their relevance towards the player finally explained upon completing the collection of them. That was pretty cool.

Imagine this: The first time I played this game was when I was 8 years old. I went through the entire game except collecting the 100 Gold Cards (I got like 80). When I was in my 2nd year of collegue (I was 22), I manage to get all 100. My shock when I knew Sirius was the bad guy all along was incredible.

If I were to make up a reason for the sake of the plot, it would have been to use all of them to deactivate Altair’s entire base, sector by sector (hence multiple gold cards). Then, Altair’s minions become powerless to interfere, and he and Regulus can’t even escape because the emergency exits are locked, which enables Sirius to attack and take the Omni Cube.

I remember i have this N64 games as my Christmas present gift during 2002 of Christmas as 8 year old kid and I love it while I playing this game. About Sirius, as 8 year old kid. I thought he was Bomberman's best friend at first. Around 2009 later during I turn 15 year old teenager, I saw this scene clip on KZbin that I felt so shocked that Sirius betraying Bomberman for collection 100 gold cards.

Damn...this makes me really angry, because I was never able to get all these gold cards as a kid. Funny how even when I played this game during my childhood I knew Sirius was up to something, and the "normal" ending always disappointed me...I felt like I was missing out, and I was. I'm still too chicken to try and brave Rainbow Palace though...that stage looks beyond frustrating. Still, Sirius is an awesome villain, and I want to see how I do against him. Probably the best use of "Light is Not Good" I've seen in a game (yes, I'm a troper :3)

I still think this is one of the greatest plot twists in N64 history. You're shown Sirius' battle in the intro, and you don't even realize what it is. It just looks neat. Sirius just looks like a cool ally. And then when you see this scene, your jaw is left hanging.
