I've been following those guys for quite some time. Those are actually L88 427's punched out to 542 cu in. They do on occasion drop in a relatively stock L88 if they have one of their race motors being rebuilt though, and yes, the factory L88's are still absolute monsters. As you probably already know: they continue to dominate the FAST class of NHRA drag racing & continuously breaking their own records with the 542 cu in versions. Not even the punched out 426 Hemi's making 1,000 hp can touch them. Any C2 Corvette with the original factory L88 427 is a very rare car. They didn't make many of them because they were intended strictly as racers. Those equipped with the L71 427 are the more streetable versions, many more of em made, and like she said: much more available........still absolute power houses too.

DIgging it!! Nothing funner than the torque of a BB and close ratio 4 speed. All the critical comments typical corvette goobs. Like the cars the crowd not so much. Nothing wrong with her driving either. If you think thats abusing a car then youve never enjoyed one.

Here's the rub about pushing one of those classic cars. I'm not sure if that's the original engine to the car. I saw the tripower so maybe it is. If an original engine block gets damaged and can't be repaired, the loss in car's value would be significant. That's why some of the more passionate owners are so reserved when operating their cars. I totally get your sentiment though. I'd be a lot more aggressive in my driving with a resto than I would with car using it's original drive train. I imagine the enjoyment of ownership depends on what kind car you have.

Some of the lyrics from Beach Boys Little Deuce Coupe fits this video perfect! Maybe this part 2:55 fits the best…but the whole video is a perfect match I would say… ”And coming off the line when the light turns green Well, she blows them out of the water like you never seen I get pushed out of shape, and it's hard to steer When I get rubber in all four gears”

I just came across this video so thank you for sharing but I do have some critiques. Having owned several older Corvettes, I can confidently say that there were so many things said and done wrong on this video, I wouldn't even know where to begin in describing them. I'd humbly suggest that you research the Corvette and it's place in the market a little more before doing another review video. PS: That motor is probably pushing about 500+ ft*lb's of torque so shredding ~8" wide tires, even with a 3.08 rear end, is nothing extraordinary and is just abusing the car.
@gordocarboАй бұрын
That is nowhere near abusing a car sheesh. Its just a car dont know why vette guys get so wound up over every little thing.
