I remembered this story when I had an Optician appointment, and he shone a light in my eye at an incidental angle. I saw my retina superimposed over the eye chart in front of me. The very delicate twigs and branches of the blood vessels made the eye chart look like a tree. I was so surprised the Optician asked what had happened and I told him about Mark 8v24. "That's interesting" he said "..the blood vessels lie in front of the rods and cones receptors, making a tree like mask that the brain learns to compensate for." I believe Jesus expected this and was waiting for the brain to catch up with its new eyesight
