Instead of taxing you, he's going to tax the corporations that produce the goods that you buy, who will have to raise their prices, so you will have to pay more for the goods. In the end, you will be indirectly paying the tax.

Big corporations do not have to raise their prices; they already get their manufactured losses and failures socialized at the tax payers expense, but never pass down the savings to the consumer when using the accounting gimmicks and schemes that hide financial gains. They will just use the new tax to justify more price gouging collectively disguised as "inflation".

@@EchoesofthePast908Of course they are not; just like they will not pass on the savings they get from getting their manufactured overhead, losses, and failures socialized at the taxpayers' expense. Big coporations can easily survive even if they ate the cost of raising taxes on them, but not small companies. Big corporations can still easily hide price gouging and are masters at distorting perceptions of value widely. Funny how big companies made record profits when their supply chain management departments utterly failed, then as usual turn to government to both blame and to solve their self-created problem. I buy products manufactured in Canada and distributed in Europe when I am in Greece. After the cost of shipping, and a 24 percent VAT included, the product is about half of what it costs on the shelves in Canada. And the distributor in Greece and the seller is still making a handsome profit and get no subsidies from the Greek govenment or EU.. Canadians need to learn how price gouging is disguised by accounting gimmicks and schemes and how big companies use these to distort consumers perceptions of value. Learn how big corporations can hide insane fianical gains and even profits using accounting schemes to inflate and manufacture overhead that actually doesn't exist in order to not pay tax on it. They could easily take some those hidden profits especially the profits they hide from shareholders to mitigate any tax imposed on them. We live in world where a big corporation can decide how much price gouging they want to hide by using legalized false accounting that creates synthetic overhead so they can pay dividends and pay zero taxes when it suits them. The customer gets duped, as the customer not only subsidizes this to a great extent, they also subsidize the means that allow the off shoring of their profits in trusts. The masses’ perceptions of value are distorted because of this and pay way too much for something that only cost 3 dollars to make and pay well over 100 for it.

As of October 2020, Carney was vice chairman at Brookfield Asset Management, where he led the firm's environmental, social and governance (ESG) and impact fund investment strategy. In February 2021, Carney retracted an earlier claim that the $600 billion Brookfield Asset Management portfolio was carbon neutral. He had based his claim on the fact that Brookfield has a large renewable energy portfolio and "all the avoided emissions that come with that". The claim was criticized as accounting tricks because avoided emissions do not counteract the emissions from investments in coal and other fossil fuels responsible for Brookfield's carbon footprint of about 5,200 metric tons of carbon dioxide. A week after being appointed as special advisor to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, it was revealed that Brookfield Asset Management solicited the federal government for $10 billion in federal funds as part of $50 billion Canada-only asset fund. Carney did not need to follow standard ethical disclosures mandatory for prime ministerial advisors because he was employed by the Liberal Party rather than the Prime Minister's Office.
