Our GDP per capita has dropped significantly over the past 9 years. The Liberal corruption (Green Slush Fund), increased crime, foreign interference coverup, insane housing prices, the increased divisions amongst Canadians, the 1. 2 trillion dolllar debt, the one quarter of families going to food banks, etc.are not addressed by the bought and paid for journalists. CBC’s job is to provide raw information. Unlike PP who only say “Axe the Tax” over and over again and has not come up with a plan to manage climate change, Carney actually has a comprehensive plan. Substance policies over simple slogans. Also to those saying that industries like the oil and gas will just pass on the added cost or price to consumers, my view is that these companies are more likely to make their production cleaner and more environmentally friendly as they do not want to be penalized in the long run. So it’s also an incentive for companies to make changes now to lower their carbon footprint.

@@rickvervoort9536 I don’t know the answer to your question but in the beginning of his speech, Carney admits that the Liberals failed to implement the carbon tax affecting consumers. Carney admits that the consumer carbon tax is not working (We are allowed to admit that sometimes our plans do not work no?). Carney said it failed because people do not want to buy into the plan so he is scrapping that consumer carbon tax. In his new plan there is still a carbon tax but they will only apply to corporations. We do need to manage climate change and we do have to lower carbon emissions and I think his plan makes sense.

Given that experience and now the crisis Trump is creating I think Canada must make a commitment to create its own manufacturing industries,as much as we can, so we no longer at the whim of another country especially USA.
