It blows my mind that so many people are so hateful of him when he is in fact doing something positive in a sector that is so corrupt and powerful , just because he isn’t a Elon/Trump goon …. His advocacy for fairness and transparency in such a brutally restrictive and self serving corporate interest sector should be celebrated and appreciated not torn down and bad mouthed because he has a different political leaning than you . Yet another reason why I despise two party politics . Its near impossible for anything good to be fought for when the total aims are for destruction of the other side

IMO, Mark Cuban isn't nearly as fascinating or talented as publicly submitted. I mean, he was a geek who scored perfectly back in the halcyon days of the early tech 2000's. He should simply consider himself as such, but in the lonely confines of wealth, one becomes somewhat compensatory, attempting to make up for all that luck.
@sweeepzone51558 ай бұрын
When he said if he was starting right now from nothing, he could build a million dollar company because he's a good salesman, etc. I thought that's fair enough that he probably could. But then he goes further and says he could most likely build a $100m+ company as if it was just easy. And that's when you know he's a bit out of touch. If you work hard, are charismatic, and get some lucky breaks, you can be quite wealthy. But $100ms takes all that and big opportunities that HAVE to come your way

1:32:40 - Cuban says 'but it was a time of war', referencing what happened in Nazi Germany. To fill out his position a bit, humans are capable of atrocities, certainly, but only in extreme circumstances, such as during war. It is true that human behavior depends on context in this way, but that behavior was murdering millions of people. However, the point being debated in this interview is whether a situation could develop where minors are able to access gender transition surgery. Could all the parties necessary for surgeries to take place be complicit in transitioning a 14 year (who is probably not mature enough to make such a life-changing decision)? Well, the context is not wartime. But we are talking about gender transition, not murder. To Lex's point, in the shorter term (5 years or so), I think beliefs could shift enough. Also, consider that the behavior of all the different parties depend on each other, such that if one stakeholder group, for example, insurance companies, shifts to support the practice, the other groups (hospitals, doctors, etc.) are likely to follow suit.

DEI has become such a boogeyman. Harvard is 6 percent black. If half of them are there due to DEI (and regardless of what you may think there are some black people who have the scores to get in) that's 3 percent. Much smaller than legacy admissions which I never hear conservatives complain about. Not much of a factor in jobs either. @@Heeroyui752 there’s cases around this, IBM, Walmart, and others from the early 2000’s. Where they’d sue for wrongful termination or pay discrimination. And these companies despite winning the cases or even getting them dismissed spent more time in legal fees than the settlements would have been. IBM spent nearly a decade in court fighting one such case and spent mountains more in legal fees than it would’ve cost to settle. This works because the plaintiffs lawyers are paid on contingency a chunk of the settlement vs the defending company has to pay by the hour.

It's because the underlying concept is discrimination based on race, sex, and sexual orientation. It's just done in a way that spins it to make it sound acceptable. I'm all for inclusion, but that shouldn't be something that gets someone a job over another person. It all sounds nice in theory, until you realize Asians who are more qualified with higher test scores, are being denied entry to colleges in favor of less qualified individuals... Simply because of race.

Businesses do not (and should not) exist to implement societal social/cultural change. They exclusively exist to generate profit, they have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders - and DEI/ESG is violating this responsibility. ANY spend, headcount, hiring a lesser qualified person for a role, running DEI workshops, etc. is a violation of this responsibility. Shareholders need to start suing - only that will cause change.

I call BS on the whole notion that Shark Tank is a celebration of 'the American Dream'. The idea was taken from the UK's Dragon's Den, which means, by this guy's reasoning, the UK is the true home of the entrepreneur.

Lex you have now surpassed Charlie Rose and Company, as a serious interviewer. Up there with the best of their time.
@netizencapet8 ай бұрын
The problem is that Lex's purely collaborative model is useful only for letting the public know the larger context of a given figure's thoughts in casual format. We don't get the needed exposition of these characters through their response to better researched, harder questions. I don't mean the rude, interrupting shut-downs of MSM abusive interviewers but questions legitimately in the public interest. The interview with Besoz was a particular and pointed failure in that regard.

Mark is strictly signaling when he stands up for DEI. Then when pushed on the concept he makes up something completely different than what DEI is.

DEI is exactly opposite from what mark says. He says it expands the applicant pool. I think it actually restricts it. I already look at everyone when hiring.

I love how every billionaire's story of how they got rich is just some shit that's illegal now, and what they did is *why* it's illegal lmao. I guess the lesson is to just try to think of something that seems like it would be illegal but isn't, and just be the one that changes that. The problem is that the number of activities remaining that are both novel and legal are pretty sparse. You're not allowed to do anything anymore.
@billybob76884538 ай бұрын
