When you say that men are inherently evil you mean all men. Disabled men, queer men, men of color. Which is bigoted. Unless of course you wanna take the other route of fucked and separate us from our manhood entirely. Then again, you reek of racism and terfdom so you probably do actually believe that black men are more violent than the average person and gay men are sexist, women imitating demons but go off ig.

When I lived in Seattle, I worked with a girl that was a beautiful classically trained dancer. She was 20. She was not raised Christian, was not a virgin (which is not at all important). She also, like a majority of women, was sexually assaulted. She went on a date with a guy that went to Mars Hill, married him 10 months later, dropped out of college in her senior year, quit dancing, and got cut off from her job, friends and family and was a mom of 3 by 24. Before she had to quit her job, she would talk about all the “repenting” she had to do for all her “sins”, including the assault perpetrated on her. It was perverse. Her transformation was shocking, fast and terrible. It’s a church that preaches and hides abuse, even without Mark around.
@NefariaAdventures2 жыл бұрын
Ugh, sounds like she married one of my brother's SPU roommates. I never heard anyone blamed for their assault, but I'm also not shocked Mark Driscoll pushed this idea. I know he preferred women to stay home and made some super demeaning/sexist comments in sermons (though I guess I either wasn't present for those, or wasn't paying attention). He definitely seemed insecure, at least from what I observed when I attended from 2006-2010. Now I'm embarrassed I attended. I totally agree with the victim-shaming of sexual assault! I had no idea my now husband had been a victim. He never told me, but his father did. There was a whole court thing about it and it really traumatized my husband as a young boy. But I was thankful to know what happened and be able to approach it with him in private and on our own terms. I can not imagine him in a situation where he would feel forced to relay the details and get "healing" from the church...wow that would have just destroyed who he has grown to become today. Which, in my opinion, is such a beautiful and resilient man. Forcing a victim to confess and confront like THEY are the guilty one is disgusting.

Angee Woodard Blasavage Lev. was translated wrong billy graham. Refering to pedophilia. "Men shall not molest young boys." Delete or reject the messages sent from the messenger of Malachi 3:1 and you reject Jesus Christ Herself and choose to die with the wicked. Malachi 2 proves Malachi 3:8 is prophetic instruction for the thieving church leaders to bring back the money they were never supposed to take for ministering and God will end Covid. Every major church around the world knew this since August of 2020 but they LOVE MONEY so much they chose to kill everyone with Covid instead of returning it! James 5:2 Rich people are NOT Christians and the wealth they selfishly kept to themselves will only be used as evidence to burn them. The 2 witnesses are righteousness and judgement, not actual people. There is no ONE antichrist; it was made up by people that worship money. Stay out of the fake churches or you will die with them and their lies. In order to be a church, the place must house people inside it. Otherwise it's another private money-making business serving satan and part of Babylon. There is no such thing as rapture. Jesus comes back to rule. God's people are caught up spiritually... Romans is not referring to Eunuchs where one partner is transgender. 🏳️🌈 Eunuchs that are born that way are transgender. It's even in the Bible. Yes, the bible was written by bigoted men and is way outdated and was changed and should be thrown out. But even Jesus spoke about transgender people. Eunuchs made that way by others were abused (it doesn't happen to everyone that is abused). Those that choose to live like Eunuchs FOR THE SAKE OF THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN are bisexual people that choose partners of the same sex characteristics but opposite in regards to gender. Notice, God PREFERS for people to be in LGBT relationships. Eunuchs are same sex couples. One partner is transgender. Transgender is when someone is born with a gender opposite the sex characteristics normally associated with that gender. God made us male or female, determined by gender, located in the brain. Your gender is located in your brain and determined at birth. I have an identical twin sister that is female in gender. I am male in gender. I am Elijah of Malachi 4:5-6 and that means any discrepancies in the bible are ultimately decided by me. Plus, it states in Deuteronomy that nobody was castrated back then. And that doesn't make sense anyhow. No one is born castrated and no one is born making the decision to be celibate. But, that is what God wanted the lying preachers to think so they wouldn't take it out of the bible. Intersex people still have one gender or another because gender is located in your brain. And Acts 3:22-23 says it will come to pass that anyone that fails to listen to me will be utterly destroyed from among the people. So anyone that says different than this won't be here much longer. It's everyone's choice. Anyone teaching the LIE of monetary tithing or getting paid in any way to minister will also die with the wicked. Peter 2:9 says we are ALL ministers . . . . Jesus was transgender and will return as a woman..... Remember, Malachi 3:8-12 is talking to the thieving church leaders. It's the answer to end Covid and every major church around the world has known this since August of 2020 but they LOVE MONEY so much, they INTENTIONALLY CHOSE to kill everyone instead of returning it. My preaching will lead to a universal monthly income for everyone. If church leaders dont repent, they won't be here to see it. Their choice...

When I was an unmarried woman in my 20's living in Seattle, my uncle was going to Mars Hill and told me I needed to go there in order to find a man and generally get my life together and get married. At the time I was heavily involved in a different church and had a very dim view of Mars Hill. No way was I going to sing praise songs with some fake hipster misogynist. Mark is the same guy who says that men & women are different yet not saying one is better than the other but can't insult another man without referring to them as having some sort of inherent aspect or characteristic of femininity which is then directed in a derogatory manner in order to emasculate him (i.e p*$$y, b*tch, emotional, ect.) The fact that most men can't insult each other without insulting women as well by referring to one another as such (when has a man ever been referred to as a woman in a good way really?) speaks volumes about how women are actually valued or even just LIKED for anything ever

I attended Mars Hill in Ballard (Seattle) form 2006-2010. His sermons were pretty much putting other people down, spewing angry words, or talking about his sex life, now that I think about it. Now that I'm older, I realize how poisonous and insecure he was. I guess I just didn't pay attention to the sermons enough back then, as the church and its various clubs and small groups, seemed like an upgrade from the Backwoods Fundamentalist Baptist church I grew up in.

Oof I went to Mars Hill every now and again when I went to University of Washington in 2007-08. I didn't go often, and it was by no means "my home church." (I'm agnostic now, so it's all kind of water under the bridge at this point), but I remember there was a lot of performative stuff there - everyone was lined up with one very specific aesthetic, it had kind of a Stepford vibe too with all the people that agreed on everything and everyone wearing variations of the same outfit - all the skinny jeans. Mark yelled at us about something every time I went there. I'll never forget one time he said very angrily how men have no right to abuse women, ever, under any circumstances - that women are precious and should be treated with respect. It was the first time I'd heard the words "women deserve respect" in a church setting, and weirdly, that was the very beginning of my journey toward becoming a feminist and a democrat, and ultimately that idea kicked off my deconstruction of Christianity, as Christian women are perpetually mistreated, and that mistreatment is constantly justified with Bible verses. With that single remark, he gave me permission to stand up for myself as equal to any man - he gave me permission to be fully autonomous, never to need permission again. Mark Driscoll is totally full of shit for the most part, he's a certified asshole and a truly terrible leader, but somehow he (probably accidentally) said something powerful in 2008 that helped me break free of fundamentalist Christianity, and for that, I am grateful. But yeah, he most def shouldn't be a pastor.

I live in Seattle and went to a Christian university very close by Mars Hill. I used to go to a few of his services with some of my college friends... I tried to like him because it seemed like so many people were fans, so here is my little storytime: I was trying to get plugged into church groups at the time, and I happened to start going to Mars Hill when he started his "marriage" sermon series (so I'm all too familiar with his gross "smokin hot wife" comments). I was put off, but I guess I was curious about what all the hype was about. Thinking it might be all the friendly church members and the community that it provided, I went to what I thought was a Bible study, but it was actually a book study where we had to buy and read HIS book about marriage (keep in mind I'm a single young college student at this time). The first day I went to this "book study", it was ran by this super young newlywed couple married like 6months who acted like they knew everything about relationships. There was a girl who had disclosed that she was wrestling with whether she should pursue a career or just trust that she would get married and wouldn't have to work. They told her that it was the "devil" making her worried that she might not get married and have someone to provide for her. I chimed in and mentioned that not everyone is called to marriage and they brushed this off saying, "well she has a boyfriend" (as if that means shit) and that it was the devil making us actually think AHEAD that anything might ever go south in marriage in the future, so not to plan ahead in case you might have to work and support yourself someday. Both this couple and Driscoll would say that it was selfish to not get married and that single men just needed to pursue a woman. Also, women shouldnt do any of the pursuing but if we were not pursued by one of the men in the church there was something wrong with us. So, that's when I peaced out, after about 4 church services and it actually propelled me to go back to the Catholic church (he hates the Catholics) 🤣 😅 Oh yeah! And he's so egotistical that when he's out of town, instead of having another preacher fill in for him, his congregation has to come to church a watch a video of his big ass head on a big screen like he's the fucking Wizard of Oz. All this to say, I cannot stand this man and I fully support you exposing his grossness in this video 👍🙌👏👏👏

I grew up in Mars Hill church, and there are a lot of things that I could say about it, but there is one thing I always think was interesting. When I went through something traumatic at age 9, I wanted to talk to "Pastor Mark" about it. Because we were at a satellite campus, my mom got his email off the church website and let me email him. My mom happened to be friends with one of his assistants, and asked her how likely it was that he would respond to my email. The assistant said "Not likely, he can't possibly get to all the emails he gets from members. Wait, how old is your daughter? 9? Oh, you'll get a response. He really likes girls her age." I did get a response! Nothing inappropriate (besides the fact that he was trying to council a child that he didn't know about a traumatic event through email, but that is besides the point). Thinking about what the assistant said, in surprised that there have never been any accusations about sexual abuse in the church.

Also, him and his guy friends also were way too into MMA. Like WAY to into watching men fight eachother. Good times. Gotta love those 00s

I went to a Christian college in the mid aughts and I cannot explain to you how insane all of the boys were about "Pastor Mark". It was like a cult. The phrase "boys who can shave" gives me misogynist nightmare flashbacks.

The podcast "The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill" was excellent and is all about the story of Mark Driscoll and the fallout at Mars Hill. It is produced by Christianity Today, so it is coming from inside the Evangelical community, but the producers used it as an opportunity to talk about how Driscoll is only a symptom of more significant cultural issues within contemporary Protestant denominations. I found it worth listening to- they did an extremely comprehensive investigation (the whole thing is well over 15 hours of listening, but you can get the gist without listening to all of them).

Listening to Mark Driscoll confirms that my decision to leave the church was and is correct. I got so sick of being told that I as a woman was inferior and the church's mission was to bring only mnn in and who cares about women.

I attended Mars Hill in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle about 15 years ago. I enjoyed it at the time, because it was a nice change from the fundamentalist Baptist Church I was raised in. I do remember Mark talking about his sex life a little too much in sermons (which is not uncommon in "hip" churches), as well as having one of his pastors shame the entire congregation because the offering (i.e. the donation bag or box that is passed around during the church service) wasn't to the church's standard. I found out later (after joining the military and moving away) that Mark had been using the offering and other donations, to buy bulk copies of his own book, in order to boost it to the New York Times best seller list.

This pastor hurt my late husband's feelings before he died. He was unemployed during the recession & it was the how dare you, who do you think you are, screaming into the camera sermon. I was widowed by a heart attack a few days or weeks later. The stress was a bit much for him.
@emilytetreault25162 жыл бұрын
All I knew about Mars Hill when I lived in Seattle was that they fucked with my Sunday morning Trader Joes run, and that this awful kid I worked with had a music internship there. He also had like complete control over his 19 year old fiance, so cool. Edit: I just remembered - I had a girl warn me not to date any guys that went to Mars Hill because "They believe that women shouldn't go to college because all it does it put their future husbands in debt" Gross.
@NefariaAdventures2 жыл бұрын
I remember that Trader Joe's in Ballard! It was built around 2009 I think. A bunch of my brother's friends and roommates attended Mars Hill (I did too for several years). Mars Hill definitely pulled in a lot of SPU students. I had no idea Mark was so well known until I moved away, and saw a news clip about him being fired after taking our OFFERING (donations members and attendees give to the church) to buy bulk orders of one of his books, so it hit the New York Times Bestseller List.

So, as someone who did listen to the very excellent podcast, "The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill" let me just say that this video barely scratches the surface of the horrible things this man did. I think the podcast says it best when they call out Driscoll for his "spiritual abuse". These demon trials were not only not founded on scripture, but they were downright abusive to a congregation that was being beaten down and made to feel worthless every week.
@alisongreenslade10062 жыл бұрын
Yes! It is an incredibly long podcast, but it does give a very intentional overview of all the evil he created. I was a teenager in an evangelical church in the 00's. Our church gobbled up everything this guy said. Which makes me shiver after hearing that podcast. There is not a single redeeming feature of this guys 'ministry' and the term 'false prophet/teacher' comes to mind instantly.

Trinity Church in Scottsdale has an interesting history. It used to be called The Glass and Garden Church. It was designed in 1966, in the style of Frank Lloyd Right, with 360° view of a garden in the middle of the lobby, as well as a Drive-In Movie Theater option, to listen to sermons. In 2005, then Pastor Patrick Shetler was arrested for embezzling $60k-$100k of church funds, and opening fraudulent credit cards. Some of his congregants, and other churches that belonged to the Reformed Church denomination, didn't want him arrested. He got off with probation and a $50k fine.
