I wonder if that other "new thing" Mark referenced that he couldn't speak a word about was the Dracula series that he and Moffat are creating together. I mean, here it was officially announced in the beginning of the summer 2017, not totally unreasonable to think they were at least in the beginning phase of just fleshing out their ideas two and a half years ago.

Doyle called John, Sherlock's stupid friend. That's what he is. I can only take a little of John. There's no much unnecessary time wasted just so John has something to do. The pilot was 1 hour & mostly about Sherlock. They added another half hour & it's too much John. I fast forward thru that waste of time.
